Nice work. Very simple and effective.

I weighed my car today at 1366 with full weight body, aluminum knuckles and rear hubs, Xray ECS. Electronics: Futaba 9551, Futaba 614 receiver, Tekin RS Pro, Duo3 4.5, dual SPR fans, and OHP 65c 6000mah battery. Car is a little heavy on the battery side, so I'll be adding weight to balance and going with a lightweight body for racing. Far from being overweight.

Thanks. In the picture of the rack 'arm' fully extended you can see the arm hitting the cross member. I'm think about grinding that a bit too.. to get even more throw. Maybe next week...

I think you'll have to wait a few weeks for an unbiased review . My thoughts are:

Top 3 good things
G1- no more 2.5mm screws! 3mm screws are of higher quality than before
G2- spur lay shaft and high top deck allows for easy pinion and spur swapping
G3- gear diff

Top 3 "room for improvement" items
B1- plastic steering knuckles -- I've never liked them, TOP is reworking them now. Best option until them is the aluminum v2 knuckles.
B2- few shades of red -- some of the aluminium parts have slightly different anodising
B3- the steering servo "nub" on the chassis -- just cut it off and replace it with tape or shoe goo

On the side of the EX, i would suggest:
  • build quality is a big improvement over the photon
  • screws are of a better standard
  • gear diff as standard in the kit
  • the gear diff is the best on the market ( except maybe the awesomatic?)
  • car in basic set-up (as instructions) is really neutral to race making it ideal to hone to personnal preferences
  • great to work on
  • looks excellent!!

On the Photon side:
  • the car has been around for a few years and there is loads of set-ups available to try
  • spares are still readily available
  • performes really well on carpet surface with rubber tyres
  • better adjustment on the steering links with ankermann adjustment
also forget to say that the photon makes an excellent wet car with its 6 cell chassis fitted.

My gear diff is still leaking... Much less then before I greased the o rings but still enough. After a day sitting in the car there is a noticeable amount of oil on the case (pulley side outdrive the main culprit, other side is OK)

Very annoying.... I have 2 spec r diffs that don't leak. If I cant sort this out I will keep using those

On a positive note, I did the velcro mod! Mine is a little different, I left the TOP velcro in one piece and ran the loose end through the slot in the batt. brace.

the car has shown itself to be faster on carpet for Larry. i've only run my car once -- so i need a lot of more setup time. the car should be better -- but only time will tell.
