This dude talks up TOP NON-STOP. He takes a bigger beating than maybe anybody else I've ever seen regarding his gear, and still constantly reminds people about how good it all is. It's a shame you couldn't find a kit for him, he deserves it.

Kit looks great. The instructions seem pretty clear as I'm flipping through them. The kit includes a hard foam bumper and steel outdrives (these are differences from the Photon kit). My kit has the 'standard' flexi chassis.

Going to have dinner and then go off to the main cave. The first victim of the build will be the servo 'nub' on the side of the chassis. That has to go! In its place will be TOP servo tape and shoe goo. I'll post pictures throughout the process.

Correction -- dinner hardly started -- but the servo nub is on. Gotta build the steering rack next and size up the servo location. Installing a Spektrum S6070.

Where are your priorities! Order in! Eat while you work and take pictures.

The 'stock' inner servo mounting position and the large plastic mount is spot on. No more re-drilling of the servo location like with the Photon!

I might regret saying this, but I think the TOP screws have improved. I'm using mcmaster stainless steel screws on the bottom of the chassis though.

Another new item is a one piece ball end + set screw included within the front c-hubs. Lets see how this throws together.

Good news is, i still have an awesome photon to race in the next trophy race on Sunday !

Hanulec, Whats the advantage to deleting the outer servo mount "nub" and mounting with tape/shoe-goo?

Thanks for the build tips and photos...!

So the chassis doesn't drag when you go through a sweeper. No use in having a narrow chassis but putting this silly nub. I expect over time folks will come up with innovative solutions around the problem. Until then, shoe goo, servo tape or even CA glue works just fine

The new Xray mount is actually pretty good as to how it works. Simple but very effective. And I dont think it was a copy of anyone elses!
