What do I need to bring to Thursday pre-tech inspection for VTA?
Motor (and tools to disassemble it), tires, and batteries?

Headlights, Schmedlights, we don't need no stinking headlights (if your car actually looks like a real race car ). Case in point. Since VTA is an Exhibition Class and I can document the headlight buckets were covered with black painted aluminum discs, maybe they will let me slide by.

They're lexan representations of black aluminum discs. Hey, I can always take a hole punch and make some Gorilla tape "headlight covers".

John, my understanding is just motors and batteries on Thursday night (you may have to bring the car too but the motor needs to be out of it and unsoldered from the ESC). They will inspect the motor with one or both of two meters and tear down may be required so bring a driver to open up your motor if necessary. The motor will have an ID label applied to it, the screws will be sealed and that motor will be registered in your name. ROAR told me you can register up to three motors per class per event. There will be no pre-approval stickers applied to VTA bodies, as there is no approved list, but it must be a VTA body. VTA tires will be checked as part of the regular tech Line as you go out to, or come off of the track, including timed practice. There is no controlled tire for VTA, so ROAR will be looking for tread and minimum depth (no slicks or bald tires) and random checks may be done on tire/wheel width and diameter. I got this information from Bob Ingersoll, the ROAR RMT Coordinator. HTH.

BTW, how do you like the 69 Wimbledon White Boss 302?

Nobody walks in off the street and goes "oh hey look at that sweet scale Mazda!" just because we put headlight decals on it . Headlight decals don't bring any realism to what we ad doing...

Wish I had turned my attention to this earlier, I could have made up decal sheets and paid for my trip!
Just pull a Slatton and glue some boobies to the front...

I am hoping to call you Champ...

I might be a little late but here is a local travel advisory:

It looks like Google maps is suggesting people going south on 35 toward Mike's take :
Take exit 443B toward Belt Line Rd/Crosby Rd
and then take an immediate right into Mike's. While this is technically possible it's sort of dangerous because it requires you to cross both lanes on the service drive while slowing down significantly on the highway off ramp.

If you are coming from the north (aka southbound ) on 35 it's far safer to exit :
Take exit 444 toward Whitlock Ln/Sandy Lake Rd and stay on the service drive all the way to Mikes.

To everyone. The frontage road (service drive) is 35mph and the police have been known to give tickets in this stretch. Keep your racing on the track!

And look out for that tire eating pot hole in the right lane on the frontage road.

One more question.
Single or triple A-main(s) for the VTA class?
