I'm really new to on road so any input is appreciated. I want to run in the World GT class and was considering picking up a used CRC Gen X10. Are these good cars? I was told to go with a BMI but i'm just getting started so I don't want to invest too much incase I don't like it.

I don't race WGT, but where are you planning to race at?

I would check in at your local club and see what the regulars race with. Ask them the good and bad points of what they race with.

Rules will then partially dictate what kind of equipment will need to go in the car too.

Regular guys running your local WGT programme can also help with setup, and possibly with parts if you break your future car.

No class of racing is future proof, but look around at how many guys race WGT and look if it is to be a class for the future.

I've driven both of the cars you've mentioned - the CRC is a good car on carpet, while the BMI works really well on asphalt. Many of the cars are very similar, and their subtle differences probably won't matter much until you learn more about chassis setup. That being said, go for the X10, find a good setup for it (try this link), and have some fun.

Our WGT program ebbs and flows but is steadily growing.

We race on carpet and the CRC is the most popular chassis followed by the AE 10R5 (even if it will be dropped by AE). No one races any other chassis so I can't help you there.

So far we have found that driver input is more important than type of chassis. Same cars with the same set up handle differently with different drivers. This brings us to the conclusion that you need to set up to a baseline and then adjust to your liking. There are no universal set ups that work for everyone.

My suggestion is to always use the manual setting for the initial set up.
