Can a 25.5 compete with a 21.5 in VTA??
Hello All,
I recently have tried to broaden my race collection from off-road short course into on-road VTA class. My issue is I bought a tc3, built it to US VTA legal specs, dropped in the new Novak Edge speed control and 25.5 ballistic combo only to find that my local club is still running the 21.5 motors. My question is, can I still be competitive with the 21.5 motors or should I just sell the 25.5 and get a 21.5? This seems to be a very fun class, but I have only had practice time thus far and my times arent quite up to par with what the previous race day time sheets. I am still playing with the gearing and am waiting for the new spur and pinion in the mail, I was hoping someone may have some experience with this. Any help is much appreciated. Mike

you will know when is time to bump to 21.5...
it isn't how big or fast your motor is ,it's how well you drive and throttler control your car around the track

As someone else suggested, start with the 25.5, get a feel for the car, track, and setup, and look for a 21.5 stator assuming you like the class and want to continue.
