Hey guys, what front wing do you recommend on these cars? i have the F60 body, and my front wing is drooping and looking sad. I heard the F2012 wing is worse, what else is there? how's the Mclaren wing? I was also looking at the stock F104 wing, but it doesnt look "right" to me on a modern f1...

A couple of guys are running the McLaren wing in our club. No drooping at all. I am going to glue in a carbon rod under my 2012 wing with goop. Should be perfect then. I had a carbon tube glued in but it didn't last.

yes I typically run a thrust bearing but on carpet sometimes I will run the standard bearing I think the standard bearing is maybe a little faster on carpet but they don't last very long...

Just be done with that 2012 wing. More trouble than it's worth

Usually it depends on the body. I have had good luck with the F60 and Mclaren in the past but have grown to like the 2012 handling except for the front wing issue. I ended up modifying an F60 wing to work but it looks strange under the nose cone...

I think Aaron has modified the 2012 nose to mount onto the Mclaren wing;

With protoform releasing body sans wings the Tamiya wings will be harder to find

Next time I run carpet I'm tempted to use the F104pro front wing. I see some cars doing well with it on carpet and when they tag the pipes the wing does not get wedged into or under the pipe.

the Mclaren wing bolts onto the front of the 2012 nose piece with no cutting to either component

but they appear to be out of stock everywhere....

So I was doing a little tweaking on the F1 last couple of nights.

Moved the battery to the back.

New servo saver.(The one I was using was out of a m05 that was raced for 2 years. Might have been a bit soft.)

New TQwire to the motor.

New carbon rod installed in the 2012 wing.

Going to try the tire cleaner tonight as well. I hope things are going to be better than last week.

Have you guys tried the Gravity RC traction compound?

Again thanks for the help Mike and Arron. I will report on how it did tomorrow.

Good luck with practice!

Locally on carpet we are only allowed SXT3.0 or Jack (like most carpet tracks). Keeps the traction more consistent without having cross contaminated compounds on track.

The reason these sauces were selected though is because they help prevent grime build up on the tires which is a big problem with most other tire sauces on carpet. Not sure though if Gravity has similar ingredients as SXT (kerosene).

Last night went not bad. At the start of the night the car was better but still not good buy any stretch of the imagination. After talking to a good friend about the car we did a little work on the diff.

Took out the aluminum spacer and 2 washers and put in the thrust bearing. Took out the AW grease. Re-lubed with stealth diff lube an semi broke in the diff.

By far the car is the best it has ever been. Had first place in the bag but got tied up with slower traffic near the end of the race and didn't have enough time to get it back.

I really have to find the McLaren wing. The carbon rod I put in broke right in the middle.

We have a 3 day race coming up at the end of the month. F1 has been entered into this race for the first time ever. Hope I can find a wing before then.

That's great I'm glad it went better for you!!! honestly even when the 2014 wing doesn't drag it still doesn't handle well at all...any wing is better than the 2014 front wing in my opinion. you would be better off putting one of the 3 racing lexan wing on the car if you really had to until you can find a mclaren wing

Mike and Aaron - thanks for all the help and advice over the last month or so!

I just returned from the IIC in Vegas, which was the first "big" race I ever attended. As far as I know I was the only one with an F1R2. I qualified 10th and won the B-Main, which earned me the last spot in the A-main later in the day. In the A-main I was able to work from 10th up to 4th.

I am by no means a pro, and I feel I could have done better had I figured some things out earlier (traction was crazy high).

I just wanted to say that in the face of the CRC WTF1 craze, the F1R2 is the chassis I believe in.

Can't wait to get my hands on that IFS now!

That is no small feat! To get 4th in the A main in a field of known talented drivers is awesome! Good job and congrats!
