I have delivered the f1r2 to its rightful owner. He raced it for the first time today and did very well. He could not be happier! I'm feeling a little bummed though. After driving both the f1r2 and my f104 pro v2 back to back to back on the same layout over the course of three weeks my v2 is lacking. I really didn't mess with set up since there was no need. I simply built the f1r2, attached my front end with servo and rear axle, used the same tires and picked up 3 tenths! Put my v2 back together and of course gained those 3 tenths back. It's truly amazing what that little bag of parts can do! Those 3 tenths are the difference between running a 27 lap pace and a 26 lap pace at my local carpet track.

My birthday is coming up soon. I think I should treat myself.

I played around with the toe my last trip out and it made a huge difference on entry. I'd give that a shot.

I would love to see some setup sheets in here. It'd be great to see what others are finding.

Actually, I meant toe out. I tried running no toe after seeing a post from Mike at Exotek. But I think, in retrospect, that he said to run less toe to give you mid- to exit steering. When I did that, it lost a bunch of turn in.

So if you want initial turn in, I think you'd want to try 1 to 1.5 degrees of toe out. Just a few turns of the wrench: give it a shot both ways and see what you like. Your mileage may vary - I am not a Fast Guy so I reserve the right to be wrong. This was just my experience.

+1 and the same holds true for caster- less caster means more initial steering less exit and vice versa.

Also I find alot of times a soft servo saver kills turn in and steering response (ie Tamiya). Go to the Xray servo saver with all springs installed for real steering response.

If all else fails use the new option shimizu soft front insert. Definitely more overall steering but on some tracks too much so mark the wheels 'soft insert'

Nearly finished building mine, just waiting on a TRF shock that I forgot to order and to wire up the motor.

Quite impressed with the quality, everything lined up perfectly and went together smoothly.
The only issue I have is with the Speed passion 21.5T i have, the plugs are at the back of the motor, not much room between the plug and the rear bulk head. Will attempt to see how i can wire it up better this weekend.

Looking forward to testing it out next weekend

I am running the tamiya saver, but with a zip-tie cranked around it, does that help?

front insert ps-0550, correct?

also would front pit 574 make any difference or stick with another set of 571 with the new option insert?

thank you

No such issue on mine
Have you tried adjusting the exotek inserts up to lock the tamiya ones in place?

@Ph3nyx,
Outstanding job! I still enjoy seeing the low-nosed bodies. Is that Berger driving?
