I'm guessing for your track Shimizu 72 hard rears and 71 soft fronts or 73 med fronts depending on how much steering you need.

will the electronics that I now have between the link and the battery still fit if I switch to this new chassis?
It will be an even tighter fit- about 2mm less on each side. You should be running a shorty lipo and just mount the on/off switch on the side plate like most F1 racers!

I ran my F1R successfully last Sunday(12 of May) with foams, this is great!
I could not get the car to function with the foam wheels
but after rebuilding this winter and introducing the uni crank steering (Exotek) and using shorty batteries. I am now able to run with last year winner at the same pace.. I TQ'd and got fastest lap during the final.

Setup: i have the electronics between the battery and the links. The transponder sits under the steering.

Great car!

Oh,
we run 35 minute final with a mandatory battery change stop of 4 minutes. during the summer we run 8 races and it all comes up to a final race where the winner is decided, points are collected during the summer. In the race last sunday I missed alot of racetime as I had choosen to run rubbers, it was raining some so I gambled that it would rain... however it dried up so I switched to foam tires, loosing valuable race time.

also I have the older conversion with the laydown servo and bellcrank..do you recommend going with the standup servo up front?? is there a performance advantage to either?? I am goin to place order as soon as rims come in..with the new 2.5 mm chassis also

Hi, Wheels just came in
Seems for rubber most are comfortable with the standard servo location. Just a tad more steering and probably more predictable off power with these narrow cars. Wide is probably another story

Mike,
Are you still making the F1R? I am aware of the new, thinner chassis. Also, can we order the wheels from Exotek Racing now?

Can you use a mini servo in these cars or is it best to use a low profile servo?

Some quick questions:
  • Where do you measure the .7mm preload on the shock?
  • How do you measure the caster?
  • You mention CA on the sidewalls, so I'm assuming this is a carpet set-up. Would it work for asphalt?
