Matched cells

How do you make your own matched battery packs

Is it different for NiCD to NiMh

fatdoggy 12-05-2004 04:11 PM

You don't, just buy matched cells. It's ALOT more cost effective.

Speedie 12-05-2004 04:59 PM

First rob a bank. That or have an extra 10,000$ on hand. Then buy a Turbomacher and a zapper. Then take the reamining 9,000$ and buy some bulk cells. Then after you take 1000's of cells and zap and cycle them several times you can start making your own matched packs. Just like the pros.

40$ seems pretty cheap for a pack now dont it?:D

........

then how do you rematch cells to insure that older pack still produce peak performance.

match pack are somewhere around $100-$150 depending on hte numbers here so when I can buy cells for about $4-$5 it may be worth a look

frozenpod 12-06-2004 04:29 PM

Besides I would like to match cell which aren't sub c as well which I haven't been able to find any body that matches them.

Does anyone know the procces of matching cells. Any links to site which have information on how to match cells..

I know that you are looking for maximun capacity but is there more too it than that???

theisgroup 12-06-2004 04:33 PM

the comments on dollas has to do with the number of cells you would have to go through to find cells that would be of the team pack quality. you know that gp3300 are $4-$5, but in 1000 cell, you may find 1-10% that would be in the team range. then what do you do with the rest? don't expect to by 24 cells and have 6 in the team cell range. if you get one, you would be lucky.

problem with re-matching is that it would take such a long time on any charger, that I would not be sure that the number mean anything between each cell. Unless you are to buy a turbo matcher or 2. But if you still want to do that, I would guess a c turbo 35 woudl be a good choice since most of the matchers are using ce turbomatchers.

buy cells online or on ebay... $100 can get you 2 decent packs

theisgroup 12-06-2004 04:40 PM

go to a reputable matcher, you can get decent packs for that also. I just picked up some promatch pack. They had an after thanksgiving day sale. they had 1.18+/390+ cells for $69.99 - 20%. so they cost $55.99. those are basically some of the best packs for stock racing you can get for the money. They also have a 30day guarantee and a 6 month cell guarantee.

frozenpod 12-06-2004 04:45 PM

in dollars here that is about $100 after the currency conversion

But how do you match cells that you can't buy ie AA, AAA

theisgroup 12-06-2004 04:49 PM

that does not make sence. you can buy cells for what we can buy cells $4-$5 with conversion but $56 with conversion is $100. What gives?

frozenpod 12-06-2004 04:58 PM

I know where I can get cheap cells through someone I know but normally to buy individual cells here normaly are around $13 each to buy a standarded unmatched pack with bars is about $70

But this still doen't help me with trying to match AAA's and AA which I would like to do.

Speedie 12-06-2004 05:05 PM

To match cells means to cycle each cell several times and matching up the numbers into even packs. Its not a process done to the cell. All you are doing is matching like cells together. The more cells you have to work with the better cance to get good stuff. the problem is ya get the good and the bad. The newer GP cells are closer in voltage that before but the runtime on them is not as consistant.

frozenpod 12-06-2004 05:08 PM

ok so you match the voltage under load after a certain amount of time discharged at the same rate is that correct.

Speedie 12-06-2004 05:16 PM

exactly, for stock racing you want to match them more towards voltage and in Mod racing more towards runtime. Voltage because you dont want one low cell dropping the packs voltage wich is important to stock and runtime so that one cell doesnt dump before the rest.
