Yeah, the B-main is like purgatory, the intermediate state between fast and the final judgement.

Even if you win the B by 4 laps, and put in a run that would have put you 3rd in the show... nobody gives you credit for it.

I actually once did win a B-main by about four laps, the reason I was in it was I didn't manage to finish either qualifier.

At iic, the B was full of the fastest guys in the world, that didn't make the A !
And the C was full of some of the fastest regional racers, that didn't make the A, or B.

You mean the fastest guys who bothererd to show up that didn't make the A...

Did Hirosaka race at the IIC? I can't remember if he was on the finishing order or not.

Thats actually a kinda strange situation, now that Masami Hirosaka is "retired" and is doing development for YOKOMO, I think he's actually running in more races than when he was a dedicated driver. I think the difference is he gets to choose which races he goes to, onroad, offroad, hes having a quite active time for a retired man.

And no, this discussion is not off track, discussion of The Master is in fact a discussion of RC history.

Hypothetical question:

Masami in a bus, versus Mears at Indy?

I've had days where I dominate to where competitors shake their heads, days where I struggle, days where I don't even finish practice, a heat, or the main. Bad days at the track are only really bad when they cost big money or get you thrown out

Here's something that could be fun: instead of qualifying with full qualifying races, you have open qualifying where each class gets a certain amount of time (say, half an hour) to run laps on the clock F1 style, taking the fastest single laps or an average of your fastest three, five, or ten laps. Has anybody tried this? I think it could be a viable method of qualifying if you wanted to run a short evening or something like that.
