Default who manufactures carpet.

last week we had someone steal our trailer with our indoor carpet inside and everything the club owns. we purchased it from calandra two years ago. the question i am asking is does anyone know who the manufacture of this type of carpet is? i have a few friends that are in the carpet business, and was wondering if i could get the carpet cheaper and try to save our club some hard earn cash. i know crc has it and at a last resort i will buy from them, but if anyone could help me we as a club would appreciate it.

There are three main carpet manufacturers in the US: Shaw, Mohawk, and Atlas. One of them most likely private labels the carpet for CRC. I will check when I get into the office on Monday with my sales reps.(work for a flooring co.), to see if I can find out anymore information.

Got this information off the BRCA website about Racing Carpets.

Racing Carpet
There is only one supplier, to my knowledge, of carpet suitable for racing
RC cars on in the UK (more than happy to be corrected though!)
Vaughans of Leicester Ltd, Aylestone Mill, Disraeli Street, Leicester,
LE28LX Telephone 0116 244 0142
The grey “felt” we’re all used to has gone through a few names over the
years, PrimaFelt was the first, then PrimaTrack, now its PrimaTrack GT, this
is the ideal material, its very hard wearing, some clubs have been running
this for over a decade now! Downside is it’s heavy and a substantial
investment to get a reasonable size track.
PrimaTRack GT comes in rolls 30m long by 2m wide and costs around £4
per square metre currently.
There is an alternative, made by the same company which is PrimaDuo,
this material is very similar in appearance and the cars handle the same on
it, however its much thinner, and much less hard mearing, it would
however get a club up and running for a couple of winter seasons.
PrimaDuo comes in rolls 50m long by 4m wide and costs around £0.90 per
square metre currently.
Vaughans do deliver and I believe the cost to be quite reasonable.

the Calandra guys are good guys. I personal own the front straight and sweeper at my local track when we added to it's size a couple years ago. fasttrax is the best and after snowbirds the longest lasting when it comes down to laps. the track looked barely worn after the race on sunday.

You flooring guys may have a hard time finding it. It's not really carpet. It's primary purpose is to line speaker boxes. Frank was able to convince the manufacturer to keep making it in the size rolls to use it for a racing surface. Others have tried to come up with something better/cheaper, but they always fall short.

If you want somethng a little different, have a look for the 2005 (yes, 2005) LRP Masters thread. Someone mentioned in there who made the Blue carpet they use for that race. Have a look in the 2006 thread (http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...86#post2325686) for pictures of the track. Looks great in blue!

Otherwise I think the CRC stuff is actually made by Ozite (www.ozite.com)

Default Carpet

Lets see, Dupont was the original manufacturer or should i say developer of ozite, it is now made by a totally different manufacturer than any of those listed. It is great carpet and lasts a long time. No matter what anyone tells you if you really want to buy it direct you can, i know because i did. I will not give the Mfg. name and you will have to do the research to find out and this is out of respect for Frank. Have fun with this info.

Default who manufactures carpet

Before finally choosing a carpet be sure to ask for padding recommendations from your carpet manufacturer. Also, before buying carpet from any of the carpet exporters it is important that you check out its texture and build material.
