Default tire insert help / advice needed please.

Hey guys, I need some help:
I am new to electric racing. I have recently purchased a 1/10th scale kit which comes with rims and no tires. I remember at some point (a few years back) that the electric guys would use different inserts between the rim and tire. I used to race nitro, so I never had to worry about that. It was pretty simple, just true the tires and throw them away when they low very "short" (foam).
How do it work on the electric world? I presume there are different compounds made by different companies? as well as inserts? What is the purpose of the insert and how it affect the handling / performance of the tire?
Also, will I be able to distinguish a tire the is worn and needs to be replaced from a new one? If so how?

Inserts work like air in a real tyre. Changing the insert is like changing the pressure. I've seen other advice on here to stay away from playing with that till you've got your setup right and can feel tiny differences in it. I personally just use pre mounts. Sorex and sweep are good. The tyres have different compounds too, just like foams the higher the number the harder the compound. Surface type and temperature dictates what tyre to use. And you'll be able to tell when they are worn.

Search some of my other posts on the Sweep threads, I explain a lot of the theory there.

Most forego the pain and just use premounts. As I explain in the thread above, premounts work for 99% of the users out there for a reason!

Click here for some tire prep theory (you're going to be asking about that eventually, anyway!)

Tekin & Sweep, thanks for all that you do for you know who!
