Traction Compounds Questions

Hi to all.

I´ve seen in these forums that you are using a traction compound called Wintergreen. I know that the base of wintergreen is methyl salycitate. I think that salycilate must be mixed with other "ingredients". Can anyone tell me what are these components and what are the proportion of these I must use?

Once you have the wintergreen "mixed" and ready to use...How do you aplly it? (drying times, how many time before the start, ect...).

Thank you to all.

i think wintergreen was used in additives (traction compounds as you call them) that had a smell to them..which aren't allowed at most races.

i use lrp additive (which is odorless and doesn't contain wintergreen) and on the tub it says for rubbers put it on 30 mins before your heat and wipe off 10 mins before...for foams put it on 50 mins before and dont wipe it off.

Paragon ground effects and corally's tc3 compound use wintergreen. How long you have it on depends on what kind of track you run on. On a high traction track(foam tyres) you may only put it on for 5-10 minutes where as on a low traction track you may leave it on for 20 minutes. If you leave traction compound on for too long it will slow the car down.

Many many moons ago, like in the 80's, we used to mix oil of wintergreen with WD-40. 1 to 1 and we had good results. The paragon does work better and you don't have to mix anything. LOL Smell on the other hand is debatable.
