Default SMC 3300 stick pack question

I am still a noob in RC racing and I am slowing upgrading my equpiment as I go. I just switched from Ni-CD 2400 stick packs to some SMC 3300 NImH stick packs. Shotgun tube sytle.

I am gonna be racing on sunday and I am curious about something.

With these new packs, should I just go ahead and charge them up and use them, or should I charge them ahead of time using a 1amp charge then discharging, then charging again at regualr amps?

I read somewhere that you should charge intially at 1 amp to break them in, is this true? Or can I just go ahead and charge them at regualr amps?

Thanx

Dave-thats not true at all. SMC produces so many stick packs that yours are probably very fresh and dont need to be cycled or run in. Just charge them up for your first round and run-em.

Do they have the orange labels? if yes-those are VERy good packs.

Yeah, I believe they are orangle labels. They just came out a couple weeks ago.

Thanx for the help. I will just charge them the day of racing and re-peak right before the race.

Hi,

Try to charge the pack so it peaks just before your run ( within 20 minutes) the longer a pack sits after charge the less punch it will have.

Make sure you have a good quailty peak charger and set it to charge at 5-6 amps

Have fun.
