yah my Local sells them for 75.00 and i can buy a new motor as well.. I want a old brokein motor.... older you go the better they r

If you water dip a silver can 540 they will break in alot quicker. Generally hit it with 2-3v and just dip the comm end of the motor into a glass of water till the brushes have broken-in. Then clean the motor, oil the bushings and your good to go. There are alot of ways to do it but the above works ok. As far as the battery goes, just get it at your lhs.

the 80's called.. they want their water dipping secret back...
anyways... if you water dip, do it on a battery power, not power from a gfx or a charger... it will go poof...

MManson - Have you heard the one where you take a new 540(do nothing to it) and hook it up to a car battery for 10-15 minutes till you hear the high pitched scream? I havn't tried that yet, I'll have to try it some time though.

I havent heard of that, but I will surely try it.
I have a few stock 80's tamiya motors laying around...

i hear you can break them in real good by putting a 12" fan on it too... but watch your fingers, arms, legs, small children and animals when doing so. Check your homeowners policy to see if such accidents are covered.
