Tamiya has created the brand-new RM-01 chassis in response to the 1/12 scale racing resurgence around the world. This new chassis features a Direct Drive 2WD setup and a pivot-ball link rear (PBLR) suspension to offer linear throttle and steering response and realistic racing action. Tamiya's 1985 release of the Toyota Tom's 84C is the first body that is outfitted for the RM-01 chassis.

Specs and Features
1/12 scale ready to assemble electric powered R/C model racing kit.
Features a 2.5mm thick black-colored FRP lower deck, a height-adjustable resin gear case with type 380 motor. (540 motor may be used when removing stock motor plate)
Pivot-Ball Link Rear (PBLR) suspension system features a center pivot ball, a pitch damper to temper chassis pitch, and a roll damper and side links to control chassis roll. Roll springs can be additionally installed to the side link pivots for more advanced suspension settings.
Aluminum diff housing allows ball differential adjustment without detaching rear wheel.
Steel rear axle.
Attachment of both hex-hub-secured and 3-screw-secured wheels are possible with the RM-01 chassis.
Front independent suspension features optimized kingpin trail.
Use Item 55105 Tamiya LF Battery LF1100-6.6V Racing Pack (M-Size) as the power source. (NOT AVAILABLE IN THE USA MARKET) Installation of square-shaped battery packs is also possible using glass tape (sold separately). Example: 1S hard case battery packs.
Included Polycarbonate body faithfully reproduces the Toyota Tom's 84C.
Sticker sheet to depict the livery and a driver torso included.

A revival of the traditional 1/12 Tamiya category Racing Master with a new chassis. Power source: 380-motor and LF1100 Battery. The rear of the main chassis is pitching to the gear case FRP2.5mm thick plastic height adjustment, with a two damper front suspension with King adopted the trail. It looks like there are slots for 4 cell NiMh and probably wouldn't be too difficult to have different battery cups for LiPo...it also looks like the pod will fit a 540 but is using a 380 with an adapter...So I think they made it so that it can conform to what everyone else is running in 1/12th scale. Back when 1/12th was converting over to LiPo and BL I was thinking 380 would have been the way to go. We could have had smaller pods to make room for more realistic looking bodies. Intersting car...I wonder if they plan to try and be competitive in 1/12th or if they just want to start their own class for TCS.

380 sized motor and LiFe battery? That could be a very interesting direction for 1/12. No boosters or receiver packs required, either.

I'm guessing Tamiya went with that front end specifically so they could make more realistic bodies. Much like they did with the lay down shocks on the IFS so that bodies with a lower nose could fit the car. A lot of really cool GTP, GT1, and LMP type bodies could be made to fit that car that would not fit others because of the tall front suspension upper arms.

how do you adjust camber with that front end?

I hope they use the standard bolt pattern for the 1/12th wheels. But Tamiya's known for begging to differ:sweat:

Spacers/shims under on outside of the steering block...lol

Come on guys this is not going to work better than the AE type ft end. No way...lol

Why are we even entertaining this other than to be positive and supportive about a new car

And even after the new lower arm that has movement now that just came out recently from yok and BBI :D

Double wishbone front-ends have been around forever, AE, Delta,and HPI all tried them long ago, and figured out that the weight and complexity far overshadowed ANY advantage offered. The "Old Skool" front-end was still winning big races just four years ago.

Not to start any arguements here but our double wishbone is lighter than most all of the front ends on the market. It is more complex but weight is not an issue.:cool:
