how did you guys put a standard spur gear on this car? for the F104, there was this one (tamiya 54215). Wonder if they will make a similar adapter for this car? Would changing that part to a plastic piece from a bearing have any impact on performance?

ok, nvm, read rebull's fix. I used one layer of black electric tape and fit pretty much snug. I cut a piece about 18.5mm (still need to experiment with width) long and wrapped it lightly(don't tug on it) and it should cover everything without overlapping. Might depend on brand of tape.

also might need to throw some spacers between the two bearings to make up the lost space (the stock spur has this plastic protrusion acting as a bearing holder) The flanged part on the standard bearing was not enough.

A little tape on the axle, install spur with a 1/4" non-flanged bearing. (standard 12th scale spur gear bearing size)
Works a treat, spur gear runs perfectly true.

For reference.

I appreciate the NPT 91 on cars more but, In RC, I totally agree. Your Fast Fashion body was one of my ALL TIME faves. But from a full scale standpoint, I was a Jaguar man. Esp. The XJR-14.

The Mazda RX792 is my favorite Prototype shape of all time. TOO smooth while offering adequate downforce. A bit more reliability and they could have been GTP champions.....

Those damn Jaguar V-12's still make me shiver. Torque/smoothness incarnate........

Man I miss the late 80's/early 90's!!!

P.S. What would it take to get a few Fast Fashion Nissans for My collection?
I have a gifted painter who could do one in my colors, and one in the Nissan or possibly Electromotive Liveries.

Eventually Tamiya should release the body separate. I also have an original RM Mk 5 that is fully restored to original new condition and I am painting a new original Porsche Rothmans body this week. The new RM01 kit has a different location for the rear body posts. However, the new bodies just have dimple marks and do not have the body post holes and wheel arch areas pre-punched / cut like the original '80's bodies so you will not have to worry about having extra holes. For purists, they will be able to tell if an original body or a re-release body by the rear body post dimple marks.

For the Toyota 84C kit, the original had the wire wing mount that attached into the rear body posts. The new RM01 kit you use double sided tape to tape the wing in place between the rear side wing plates.
