Default Abandoned on-road race track - JAPAN

A couple days ago I stumbled across this abandoned on-road race track near a city called Kagoshima, Japan. This track must of been beautiful back in the day but now this once beautiful race track is no longer being used and falling into disrepair. To be honest I was quite surprised and sadden to see such a sight especially in a country such as Japan.

Here are some photos.

By the looks of it they use to race nitro and electric sedan.

Very cool find.

Looks like with a bit of paint, some wood, and a pressure washer, it could probably host a race tomorrow.

If you find out any more info on the history of this former track, I'd love to hear it.

The hobby shop located on site had some seriously old school r/c cars new in box. I came across an HPI RS4 PRO, new in box. Old vintage Tamiya, Kyosho car kits, spare parts.

It's kind of a mystery why it closed down, I tried to communicate with the owner but he said nothing in response to my questions. I wonder if Masami or Hara ever raced at this once beautiful out door race track.

Why do you think its abandoned? There are alot of track like this in Japan.
Some bigger than others, Sly Speed way doesn`t get used much and it is the only paved oval in Japan. It also has a road course in the infield.
The Tamiya cirucit isn`t that far away from looking like this. This is real Japan not TV.

I wonder what the cost would be to move few hundred tons of earth, concrete and asphalt, intact, to Chicago?

Default Thanks Dan!

Dan you are the man! Thanks for the panoramic view of the race track. Wouldn't it be awesome to bring it back to life again. All but a dream I guess.
