No factory driver makes anywhere near 100k a year. If they have a job in addition to their sponsorship agreements, and win every race on their contingency plan, they may come close.

He was running a standard short wheelbase Cat during practice, but discovered on the fast Romsey track that it was too unstable, so his father built up a new XL Cat and the first time it hit the track was for round 1 of qualifying And he went on to win the worlds... as they say "the rest is history"
I also remember all drivers and spectators were around the track when Masami was at the track as his driving was absolutely fantastic.
And after Masami won that worlds he drove his Cat using his feet and another round with the transmitter on his back. Incredible.
