In 3/4, it has only happend to mine once. And it was for a short time. A little tapping can often fix the problem. No blown LEDs, just bad connections. Sad in such a product...
Anyway, one thing you have to take into account, is the VESC charging algorithm.
The good thing is that this charger never ever false peaks... But this almost also implies the problem with this charger; It pushes the cells harder. This is of course an advantage in stock class. But I'm not so sure about the battery life time. Personally I havent observed any problems yet, but cant be sure...
The thing is, that the charger charges for 55 seconds. Then it pauses for 5 seconds, charge 55 sec., pause 5 sec., and so on. The charger looks for the voltage drop WITHIN these 55 seconds. So if the pack voltage drops very little very slowly, then the charger wont stop. I've charged a AA cell, and after 7 hours, it hadnt stopped yet... Needles to say, I dont charge AA and the likes on this charger anymore....
The result is, that packs like 6 cells GP 3300, is quite warm and sometimes hot after a charge, even with delta cut off as low as 3 mV pr. cell. This is especially a problem, if ambient temperature is above 22-25 degrees celsius (71-77F). Most of the time I'm charging at 17-20 (62-68F), so it's not a problem for me.
