I'm just getting into onroad
all of my off road buggies have a mamba monster
I just picked up a tc5r -- the hobby shop said i should go with a teken RS.... what is the best 1/10 speed control out there right now?

IMO the "best" esc overall for 1/10 is a toss up between the Tekin RS Pro and the Mamba Max Pro. Reason being they are the only two esc's I've found that have an adjustable "two-step" timing for different motor rpm on sensored brushless motors. Call it turbo, cheat mode, NOS or whatever you want, fact is that they have an adjustable base timing (standard on most esc's I know) and then a second one for your higher rpm's. Similar to Honda's VTEC systems. For trying out insane speed runs requiring 4s+ lipo the Max Pro would be the obvious choice. For everything else its basically just preference.
For some good bashing, the best bang for the buck esc I've found is the ez-run line of esc. xe-run, turnigy, and hobbywing are other brands of the same esc. Get a 60A or higher for good take off though.

hehehe normal answer how longs a piece of string???
I was a Tekin guy thru and thru. Borrowed a friends Hobbywing one weekend to have a play with, hooked now great ESC for all round driveability but I still believe Tekin has more top end. Oh and you cant beat Hobbywing for dollar value and bang for buck.
Best thing to do is check out your local track and see what people are using in your class.
On here you will get a different answer from everyone.

Yes, I am biased but I like the adjustablility of the RS, there is so much feel to this ESC with the adjustment on offer via the hotwire settings.
IMO it is better to have too much adjustability than not enough, as it then covers you for all types of tracks.
Save yourself some $ if you are only racing in 13.5 or 10.5 classes then get the regular RS.
If you want to race with an 8.5 or faster, then get the pro.

Go with whatever the club/venue is using.

The xerun is great. It is a bit cheaper, plus you dont need a computer to adjust any of the settings.

The tekin Rs pro is the best out there for 7.5t motors up !!!!! Hopefully the new Rs pro will be able to go down to 2.5t motors like the Rx8 can !!!!!!!!

+1 on the ORCA MKII. Buttery smooth and puts the tekins in their place.

I have run Tekin's, LRP's, Hobbywing's and they have all been good.
But currently I run the Orca, and have been really enjoying it.
