never meant it that way jeez. I am not that great of a driver. Im just saying there must be a noticable performance increase with this so called high performance battery.
If you made a computer drive the car with different batteries. Would there be a difference in laptimes? lol idk maybe im just thinking too much

No worries !! I am sure you will get extra punch etc...but at club level one small mistake and all is gone, even the extra bucks you paid for those super dupper batteries.
You need to be at some serious level to take full advantage of a pack with "supposedly" extras.
The category you are racing is also a big factor, the set up of your car and the electronics play a huge role too.

Nobody does 130kmh racing !!!! Max 115kmh by Hara in the Netherlands ! As for the deffective packs, I must agree with you that in general if the majority of racers have dead packs from a certain brand, then that brand should be avoided until they prove themselves to the racers by refunding the cost of the packs and releasing an upgraded pack ! The best way to buy good packs is to get as much information as possible from forums, friends , club members, etc, about the product you want to buy before spending a dime ! Most racers chasing C ratings fall prey to hype, because they always want every (so called) advantage they can get ! Consequently they lose alot of money on deffective products ! I'd rather run last year's proven products than gamble on new hyped up goods with my hard earned money !!!!!!!!!! Thunderpower 40c or 65c for me !!!!!!!!!!!

keep pumping out the expensive 70C + packs. Just means the 45C and under packs I use will keep getting cheaper
IMO 400A + burst rates are completely meaningless in RC with approx. 200A loads. If my lipo can put out a constant C rating that is around 200A, than that's all I require. I'm sure there is a bunch of chemistry I have no idea of, that will make a huge C rated battery much better in a 200A load but I'll leave that to the Pro's and those with deep pockets. Maybe someday we will be using 0awg cable and drawing 500A, going 300km/h but likely not that soon.
Would be great if a non-partisen party would test packs for a real C rating comparison.
As for Team Orion (kokam) LiPo's, I've had nothing but a stellar experience with them. Three 5+ yr old packs still going strong, rarely stored properly and one was even slightly over discharged, left in my garage all winter with temps of -25C, than thawed out and put on my new charger and it came back to life!!! I've been using it for six + months now and it's perfectly fine

Rc model cars ok !!! As for 40c , 45c packs getting cheaper the higher the new pack's C rating climb, you are on the right track !!!! The old packs also have withstood many abuses and proven themselves worthy of every penny spent, while the new ones are a more expensive gamble !!! So Orion and the likes please step up the pace and come up with some 150C packs, you guys are saving me mad money !!!!!!!!

Exactly, I don't care about the C rating. I just get the most capacity I can within a 290g limit (which allows me to make 1360g balanced). I bought two and so far I've been very impressed with these packs. They are much too expensive though !

I just bought the 5500 90c version of the these batteries. I'v raced with MuchMore 4400 50c, MooreSpeed 5000's and 5600's 50c, LRP fat Cobra 65c and now this one. I must admit, I was extremely hesitant to buy one of these batteries since I just bought a brand new MooreSpeed lipo. My home track is Andy Moore's home track, Ardent Raceway, so I always preferred to support our local pro driver and always will. He's got some really cool products.
Well, I charged up the Orion lipo for race 2 at Ardent raceway after having done some really fast laps with a brand new MooreSpeed 5600 50c and 22 laps in 307, fastest was 13.01. With the Orion my overall was 23 laps in 303 with a fastest of 12.8! At this point my MooreSpeed tyres had 12 runs on them!
I run all LRP gear, even their lipo but my LRP lipos don't even compare to MooreSpeed! Shame cause I really like LRP products. Back to Orion...
The Orion's have an edge on punch and an edge on top speed. This battery will make those motors that have a softer feel have an X12 grunt. My honest opinion is these are the best batteries I have ever used. Lots of us are switching to them. For me, it's a must have since I race at top level and the .2 of a sec is a lot to gain.
I'll run MooreSpeed 1st qualifier then it's Orions for the rest of the day. For tracks that are small I'll run my old MooreSpeed's as the Orions will be too much.

BTW there are only 3 major makers of Lipo batteries, so I'v heard, and companies (orion, LRP, MooreSpeed) put their logo on them. So another brand might have the same cells as Orion.

i cant wait to get my orions....ill tell you why..
i recently sold some year old fantom/thunderpower 65c because i wanted to upgrade batteries....
went and bought some proamps 5500 60c to be different (as did someone else in our club)
i run 17.5 boosted and he runs mod...
anyway long story short...both of us felt they lacked a little punch compared to our old batteries, then one of my mates said here try an orion....so i charged it up and went out.....from the second i went out there till the moment i came in i was impressed not only with the punch and power they delivered but it was constant over the whole run.....
what surprised me more is that i was so busy running laps and having a great time then all of a sudden the car started to skip under acceleration and i thought i better come in and found out i had stripped the rear belt....then i realized i had been out there for 8 mins...(was a practice day)....
i cant wait to get my orions....ill tell you why..
