unless they made some changes, it's a fairly usesless set on rubber. btw - i have two sets for sale should anyone disagree with me.
Eh, yeah 22.9 is a bit stiff on a TC6. Even most mod setups don't go over 16.5.... but thank you! Do they have springs softer than the 6.5/17.9? I'd be interested to pick up some.....

Will any type of spring fit the sakura shocks? Or will I need to organise a set of +4 towers and some TRFs...

I have been using Reflex Racing springs on the Sakura shocks, and they work flawlessly..... So those, Associated, and colored XRAY springs all fit.

I used tM and Tamiya springs without any problems on the Sakura shocks.

ok so Im looking to purchase this car and return to tc racing but i have a few questions like: what is the exact reason for the plus 4 shock towers and what springs are being used since the 3racing kit is in sufficient for rubber tire asphalt racing? thanks in advance

Most of that info is like at the top of this page... And maybe back one. Did you read any of it?

Consensus is that the Sakura springs are to hard. I havent run my XI yet ( have to wait till the birthday ), but I use 14lbs on my current car for parking lot type surface. I plan to grab assosiated green, silver and blue, 4 of each.

The +4 towers are to fit tamiya TRF dampers (and maybe others?)

Pretty much I switched to the +4 towers and the -1 spring retainers so I can run the TRF shocks with the 3 racing shock caps etc. Car is weapon have been switching between pink/silver, silver/silver HPI spring combo. Car feels a little free with the silvers all around but I find it nicer to drive.

ive read the thread already but it just wasnt very clear to me. between some guys saying you have to run other companies shocks to run softer springs and others saying no its not true. thank you for clearing it up.

Honestly, how did you measure the springs? Your measurements would mean that a 6.0T Spring has exactly the same spring rate as an HPI Gold Spring. That is just not true. I own both and the HPI Gold spring is alot stiffer.

I do not have the capabilities to measure them but just compressing the springs on my pitboard using my finger makes it very clear that those springs are not equal. HPI Gold feels very close to the 5.25T Spring, but never equal to the 6.0T.

I tested the 6.0T and 6.5T Springs on the track and the car felt very sluggish, so they have to be pretty soft. I use to run 5.5T or 5.25T in the front and 5.75T in the back with very good results.

while my test methods/calcutions may well have been flawed, i'm betting rather, that it's a qc issue. many manufacturers have no idea what their own springs test out at. probably why the lastest trend is simply to label the springs by wire thickness and coil spacing. that way, when their supplier sends them garbage, the end product still falls within their visual description, albeit performing nothing like other batches.

pretty much everything quantifiable in our industry is like this. yeah, i can read, and i know the bottle says "650 cSt" ... the lessen, here? don't borrow shock oil, springs, tires, etc.

I did and they are to short.
You have to wind down the springplatform almost to the end.
TM spings are a good fit and i also used Tamiya springs on the Sakura.
This was with the -1mm lower spring retainer.
Left tamiya springs, right the TM springs.

They would more than likely work fine with the original shock/shock retainer setup. Can test them out if you like.
