Quick RC Racing Question
Quick question: while pondering flicking my imaginary throttle trigger on the way home from the office... why are RC racing formats dependent on time? like what we have 5mins? i know the format I believe is a combination of both as we also count how many laps and the fastest time and stuff. why not do it like real cars that have fixed number of laps and then race against time? im not complaining just curious... hehe what are the principles behind this format?
any "quick" answers? hehehe

probably more to do with time management and making life easier for the race director as different classes would complete those laps in different times. For example
40 Laps in Mod Touring car would be much quicker than 40 laps VTA so VTA would end up with more "track time" and what about the newb that takes 15mins to finish 40 laps, do you wait for everyone to finish??
I do think we should be taking advantage of LiPo and long run times. 15 minute mains would be sweet
