I don't know what pinion is included in the 04R but 40 in the pro version will work fine with 120spur with a stock motor..
The hk thingy, its just some conversations...hope you didn't mind

That's cool, I am looking for starting gearing ratio for the silver canned 540 TaMiya motor, right now the kit comes with 120-45, and 2 spare spurs (say that 10 times really fast) I currently have 128-340, seems ok, but I haven't put it on the track yet.....

The potential of the car is wasted on a 540 motor. You have to put a regular stocker or mod in it to see how sweet speed can be. Yeah baby!

Coolrcdad is absoutly right. The car would be a waste if you just run with the silver can motor. Put a mod into it and it really comes alive and shows it's capabilities.

Yo Impact!
I shared my gearing set-up with a stock motor earlier in this thread too and never really got anyone elses opinions on gearing. *no pun intended* Right now I am at 120 / 39 and I may goto 120/ 40 but it just depends on how fresh my motor is.
Anyone care to share their gearing?

TA04 Hard Suspension Arm
Part number: 53427
Price: 1,100 Yen
Just in case u needed new suspension arms, u might consider these.
Clipped my left suspension arm on the straight and the baby broke off
After this weekend's race (my first) I'll be stuffing my ol' 23T back into it.

...i think u have to consider traction (tires and track surface) when gearing especially when racing. 6.40 may be fine on asphalt but may be over on carpet...

... might see u there ...

Alvin,
is there a difference between the Hard Suspension arms and the arm that come with the TA04R?
IMPACTPLAYR,
Sorry, i have no clue how to gear that 540 motor. Since it has a good deal of torque and not much RPM, put in the smallest spur and biggest pinion you can find.

I have my TC3 for stock and I don't like mod, however I may try the Ta04-R in stock once or twice.
Coolrcdad- would you please help Simulatedwood with a gear ratio to work with.
I did start with the biggest pinion I had and it felt a little sluggish geared 120-45, and then I geared the car 128-40 and it felt better, but agian with the silvercan it is hard to tell.....

Also according to the tag, i think it mentioned it is graphite re-inforced... I'm not going to test it by clipping it against the straight thought

Ball Joints popping off...
04r drivers, do you notice this: the joint held by the ball connectors (e.g. Camber links, toe, steering, etc.etc.) have a tendency to pop-out even with slight knocks! Any ideas how to keep 'em in?
Also today my front ball diff kept on tightening itself. I rebuilt it, and put locktite on it. Doesn't seem to help, but gimme tommorrow evening to strip thje whole car down to find out what's wrong.
