Mike F: I might run it in Mod at our club's annual champ race this weekend. After that is ROAR Nationals and I have my two Losi cars already set up for that.

KINGZJ: The GT1 qualifiers were pretty nasty. Scotty even threatened to start calling stop-and-gos in the second round. The track was big enough that the mod motors should have been faster, but you're right, a stock might have helped us get through traffic. I had to hit the brakes all over the track.

Gear it like you would gear stock motor with a lot of torque. Try 120/40 and go down a thooth or to until you get a good balance of speed and acceleration. Once again a 19t mod motor is nothing but a modified stock motor .

Max Epoxy or JB Weld in the stock gear diff makes a quick but a touch heavy spool for the 04 or use Shoo Goo and you will be able to replace the outdrives when they wear

I rebuilt the Ta04-R that we use from our 30 min enduro at TA and converted it to short wheel base. After a theriodical set-up, I was surprise how well it ran the first time. Maybe because it felt new again. But, I think the Short Wheel base set-up is the cause of being very quick & fast in the turns. I was able to worry about my line and not how I can keep the car in the middle of the road. The MR-S body looks and work great too.
I had more fun with it than my EVO 3

Izzy,
What's your short wheelbase setup?? I'm thinking of converting my 04-R over to short wheelbase since I got the SS kit at the Newark TCS.

KinZJ:
Tamiya TA04SS Hard suspension arms #53578
49265 TOYOTA MR-S RACING LIGHT WEIGHT BODY

There is one being auctioned in Ebay for the arms
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3116010687

Linger:
Nothing special about my set-up. I just keep it balance as much as possible. I usually start with a soft setup then gradually go up. Keep the car as low to the ground as possible, without the side of the chassis from rubbing the ground when your car rolls from side to side during turns.
