The track director said only tamiya spurs, fortunately I will only need maybe 2 pinions for this motor, and then I will have my "other" set for any other track.

Default Here is my Gearing Set-up

Hey guys,
With my Ta04R
I am at 120/39 with a P2K Stock motor (Fantom Team). This is gearing for a large indoor carpet track using Reedy Zappers SMH Batteries. My question is where are you guys gearing yours at?
Thanks,
Simulatedwoodgrain

Default O4R

Although you can get this car for about $140-$150 USD in HK, at least here in Canada, you cannot race it in the TCS series.

Borgfeldt Canada (Tamiya Distributor in Canada) has made special holographic Borgfeldt/Tamiya Serial Number Stickers that they place on the chassis of every TB EVO, TA04, TA04 Pro, TA04S and TA04R chassis (and maybe some Lemans and Mini's as well).

They tech for the serial number sticker, and if it is not present, you cannot compete in the TCS races. One really really good driver in our area who's good friends w/the TCS organizer was not allowed to race his O4 pro because it was bought from HK and missing the sticker.

So if you plan on racing TCS, check the rules first.

Jeremy

(p.s. At least they're not as bad as Kyosho Cup...they require an authentic original receipt of all car/parts/accessories from Canada for up here before you can race)

I am running the silver can 540 tamiya motor with a GM V3, and 2000's and 2400's, the races are 5 min. long. and the track is a small indoor asphalt facility with approximately a 60 foot sraight away, and fairly tight infeild. The gearing for the P2K also helped because I may race on a parkinglot track about the size you race.

I am pleased with the handling so far, infact i believe the car will be perfect with my 138g's which wouldn't hook-up for me with my TC3 in stock this week. Unfortunately i can't get to the track I will be racing until raceday because it's 1 1/3 hours away.....

I set the wing at maximum rake when i built the kit, I may have to lat it down more as there was a little too much traction in the rear.... Has anyone tried adjusting the large Tamiya wing that is included with the newer kits to use it as a tuning device???

the 64 pitch gears and the 04 module gears are the same, trust me. the manual on my pro 2 goes like this "64 pitch/.04 module" so when i used the pinion of my TA-03F Pro, it worked on my HPI Pro 2. And no, they don't make any noise. The only noise i hear is from the motor. If there is some noise, use Tamiya ceramic grease. best grease there is, plus it's cheap!

the only thing i like about the TA-04R is the torsion bars, they really make your car look high-tech!! plus, they greatly reduce slop!!!

Thanks, I just grabbed an HPI 64 pitch spur out of my box and sure enough the teeth match exactly!!!! Now all I need is a place to start...LOL....

BTW..ERAP- at least we agree on one thing....we don't like each others cars, I hated my Pro2, infact after I gave my Dad my Pro I begged for him to trade me back for the brand new Pro2 and he wouldn't even concider it!!!!! LOL

Yup...they do that so you support your LHS and Borgfeldt (Canadian Distributor of Tamiya).

Because you can win trips to California all expenses paid by Borgfeldt (For the North American Finals if you win the Canadian Finals), and the fact that they have tonnnes of lucky draw at the end of each race (Tires, whels, insert, tools, fail-safes, shock oil, servo savers, parts boxes, battery packs, and usually 2 brand new kits), that's why the kits are more expensive up in Canada..they have to pay for those things somehow. Well, they are almost identicle to US prices...but can't compete w/HK prices. Actually...they are often cheaper in the stores than what tower hobbies sells them for (Especially if you bargain/negotiate prices)...

Not sure...

It is not available yet, so you can't go that route yet...maybe by the spring, they will have the replacement carbon/composite 04R chassis available...My guess...maybe $60CDN...as the Woven Graphite is about $100.

There is a guy in T.O. selling his O4R bought in HK, brand new, not assembled for $350 Cdn.
