TIRE WARMERS
 

just looking for some beginner info on using muchmore tire warmers is there a formula of warmers vs. air and or trac temp or soley just to bake in tire tweak?
any info would be greatly appreciated thank you!

What was taught me is to run without warmers, note the times you were doing fastest laps then take tire temperature.

So if your tire temp was 40c during your fastest laps, then set the warmers to that temp.

Basicly agree with above, but add 5 deg extra to compensate for the tire temperatures falling at the begining of the race. I also keep the warmers on for a good 30 minutes or so, so the entire wheel is warm (tire and insert), and not just to the outer surface.


Depending on your surface, I also found when running 32's (or even 28s) I could easily over heat the tires and would loose grip towards the end of the race. I have switched to 36's, and get a much more consistant traction level throughout the race.

i temp my tyres after a run and set the warmers to 5 degrees hotter, exactly like as described above..
i too like to have my warmers on for long enough to heat the rim/insert/tyre, not just the outer surface of the tyre..

any ideas on how to warm up tires that are to small for the warmr cups? ie mini and f1 tires? wood stretching a tire inner over work maybe? thanks

there is a smaller size cup for some tyres, but F1? these must be foam I guess.

Tyre warming is also important in conjonction with tyres treatment.

I do use 36 also (official comp tyres) and it works great, where I live the temps are good.

But with 28/32 treatment is sometime sufficient with no heat.

Otherwise treat tyres generously 30 minutes before race, cover tyres fully with a small square of kitchen paper or light dry baby wipes or similar, and warm for 30 minutes.

your tyres will keep warm for 2 minutes before race, which is sufficient to get a good start.

You might try to find the wrap style warmers that Trinity and others used to sell.

Heat for 15-20mins. The hotter the track the less I heat the tyres.

15-40degC track temp I use 55degC on the warmers (Sorex32)
On Sorex 28 the most I would use is 45degC, and up to 60degC on Sorex 36's.

Most of the time on our asphalt tracks I use 55degC
