Default Speedo in modified TC

Hi

I have now for many years been running boosted 17,5 , and now it's time to go modified. BUT what speedo ?? SP , Nosram/LRP or ??? .Do you drive a boosted speedo in modified. Will use 4,5 or 5,5 motor with 7,4 LIPO

Thanks
Mike

Probably the safest bet is the SXX TC spec, then as mentioned above the SP GT 2.x series. There are other alternatives that are also very fast (or faster) but require more work to get the best out of them.

Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro is an awesome speedo. It is super-smooth, and with 323 Stock software you can actually run timing on your mod motor. I run boosted 4.5T with great feeling!

Have a look at the speed passion thread. There are some recent-ish posts showing how the 323 boosted setup works on a 4.5T.

Like Ooj said, check the Speed Passion thread. A week or two ago a 4.5 boosted setup was posted (by sidecar-phil I believe). That is blistering fast, but keep an eye on temps.

Outdoors on asphalt I like 4.5T - if I couldn't use boost, I would probably use 4.0T, but 4.5T is a good place to start out. Even without boost it can be a handful for new mod-drivers, and with boost it is plenty fast. So I would get a 4.5T.

Indoors on carpet I like 5.5T, as the tracks are usually smaller.

I would get a Tekin RS Pro.

I currently have SP 2.0GT Pro and not impressed. It runs hotter then my Tekin and have issues finishing it seems. Not sure the exact problem yet though but the ESC is the only thing new. I only used it two weekends though so my opinion might change.

I have the exact opposite impression. I used to run mod with a RS Pro, and it godt very warm with a 5.5T. I couldn't do anymore than 5min, and that was with a conservative gearing.

But when I switched to the SP GT2.0 Pro I got no problems whatsoever. My speedo doesn't even get warm! I do 7min practice runs now (because of a rule-change here in Denmark) and have no heat-problem. This is with a boosted 4.5T geared a bit on the heavy side.
