It would be interesting to see a datalogging esc with all the fans

Tekin shows some fans really steal the voltage

I'm enjoying the Zepplin mount and 40mm fan for now, I like the neat idea of how a second fan can be added easily too.

They seem to push out a nice amount of air

I kind of laugh at the gripe they have for the Superior Hobbies fan not coming with stickers (?!). It's pricey but here in the south that fan has proved itself.

So what is the optimal distance to place a fan from the motor? I know we get them to push air, not draw, but I have seen some fan mounts put the fan directly on the motor and others a bit further back (upwards of 15mm). Not sure what to do here.

Thanks

I think a bit of space between the motor and the fan is good. too close and the air will hit the can of the motor and spread out more.

I have a 10mm gap. you can use hinge pin/wishbone spacers to adjust the spacing of the fan by quite a few increments too which is nice.

Thanks Roy for re-testing the 30mm fan, and adding the Windy fan to you're analysis. I haven't seen much finer/scientific work in R/C in a long time!

The latest batch of F5 fans have slightly thicker wire. It's not super thick but it's definitely heavier than before.

Thats good. The wires on my old one got frayed easily and I almost cooked a motor. Gonna heatshrink it.

Nice test, silencery.

On a related note, has anyone tested some 25mm fans ?
