Default Suggestions for ESC and Motor specs/combo for drifting and a little racing????

Does anyone have a suggestions as to how many kv or turns the motor should have for amateur racing on road (tar) and occasional drifting (Associated TC5R)? Been trying to figure a brand that has good value as well as performance (hobbywing anyone?). I don't want to spend an absolute fortune although im partial to Castle Creations.

I have the F1 version in my F104W and it works well. No cogging for a sensor-less BL motor. Can't beat the price IMO.

The Hobbywing's are every bit as good as the castle, and much cheaper.
35A/9T Ezrun combo is a cheap starter package (unsensored), quite fast, good for drifting. Very reliable.
or Xerun if you spend more $$ & want sensored. Pretty much the same as some Speed Passion kits.

Unfortunately, they are too many fakes around.

I use a Novak havoc stock spec esc with a 10.5 ss pro bushless for my basher/drifter. Local club have let me run it in their stock class a couple of times as well, but if you want to be safe go a 17.5 depending on what your local club runs as stock, you can just gear it to be competitive.

If you go for a stock spec esc or "blinky", it will be cheap. My Novak was $150 on www.amainhobbies.com

They also the the speed passion cirtix stock club race for $99.

Both are a sensored setup, so will be smooth for drift.
