I recently got a F103GT on ebay and got it to work. I just need to know what is the best motor/esc to run on the F103GT

Depends on what you want to do with it, if you are racing, use what the class calls for, if just for racing up and down your street, something mild like a 17.5 with no timing, rwd will just spin with much more power.

i am running a 13.5 in mine(it was spare so thought meh why not:lol:) have to wind down the epa and its alot of fun. in a straight line its stupid fast and goes around a track ok. does tend to pull the rubber of the wheels after long runs:deathstar

Pan car / F1 style chassis is fast even with stock motor. Try getting used to driving it first then speed it up later with brushless.

We raced those in the Tamiya races about ten years ago. Believe me, the silver can was a handful for many racers. That was the only motor you were allowed to use in that class.

For club racing we just stuck in a 27T stock and it was as fast as modified TC.

I would be hesitant to put anything more in it than a 17.5. The front end plastic is just not durable enough to take crashes at speed. I found that out the hard way with mine about a month ago. This chassis was designed and meant to be used with a Tamiya silver can brushed motor. Anything more powerful than that and you are just begging for parts to break.

And, spare parts are getting scarce. I had to order them from Hong Kong this time. I'm still trying to source the two main aluminum screws for the front end. If anybody has ideas on those or some spares, let me know.

Despite the F103GT's issues, I still really like mine. I have it set up as a Porsche Cup car. I like to think it drives somewhat like a real, rear wheel drive Porsche. It's fun to race because of this, but I think I will soon put mine up on eBay to replace it with something more durable and easier to find parts for. It will be a sad day, since I've had it for a couple years.

the brushed system i have provides less than half the speed i got while testing it with the reedy 3300 brushless system from my sc10. i just can't swap the brushless back and forth between sc10 and f103gt

You can gear pretty tall with the 540 stock silver can (Mabuchi) motor. Traction will be a problem when you start using high power motor system. You can get the top speed up to low 30 - mid 30 mph with gearing change & stock mabuchi motor.

The screws come with the front end,they are m4x30 flathead

silvercan would deffinatly be a good start to get used to the rwd feel.like i said previous,13.5 is a bit much for it but it is drivable. here is a pic of mine.
