would it be better to get a NIB or slightly used gt7 for around 70$ or so or spend the extra money and just get the GTX?

The GT7 is very good if budget is an issue, however I am told the from several top drivers that the GTX is a noticable improvement. I'll definitely be running one this winter.

70$ for slightly used GT7 is a good buy. Buying brand new GTX is advisable if no buget constraints. I don't believe it has big difference between these two. FYI, I have 2 GT7 both for stock and mod racing and so far am happy with it. But, I have ordered GTX for comparison and knowing it has smaller size than GT7.

All the new small ESC's have low ampage ratings due to the new FETs I believe. Basically there is something internal with these new ones that don't need it as high.

Buy that GT7 but make sure it's not the first edition. You could ask for date of purchase. ( the first edition have some kind of problem such as high return rate to factory ).

GT7 is good stuff, 70 bucks is good deal.

iz amp rating realy that big of a deal cos my dually goes fine it goes betta than the gt7s/cyclones at my track ..................do you need the high amp rating for mod............................sorry if i sounded a bit sarcastic before

Big amp esc ( for example LRP v7.1 = 690A momentarily ) is design to allow max. current from battery to motor. In this examples, 690A is maximum ampere allo before the current damage the FET. Usually full current exist at start or exiting turns.

IMO, it's not really a big deal as long as the motor use is within esc's spec. Dually esc will handle the job as good as GT7 esc. Good setup and good driving skills are always above all, don't you think?

I got a report from someone who has one and already has smoked it running 19 turn motors. you may want to hold off till the first generation bugs are out. If you really want a new and latest technology ESC, the QC2 may suit your needs.

I don't know the exact date, but date of purchase after january 2004 onwards should be all right. I'm thinking of buying GT7 ESC again this is good stuff.

Hey Guy, the Amp or Current ratings of ESCs usually have no real world meaning. Your battery can't output more then "around" 150 amps for very long. But yes, the new parts that are used in smaller ESCs are slight different "kind" of ratings. In the end none of it has anything to do with anything "really".

The statement about the ESCs with Xhundred amps rating being super heavy duty is not accurate really. It doesn't really work that way. The ratings are based on the Mosfets SPECS under lab conditions and are usually for very short times. Regardless of what the box may say.

I've seen the 19 turn blowing up a GTX report. From the sound of the melting and the damage, it looks like something could have shorted. It's hard to say with out speaking with the Customer though. If you are on that board, tell him again to contact us. We can do some good as far as getting it replaced. How is it possible that a older ESC would have newer technology?? According to "Internet reasoning", that is not possible. I'm just joking around, please don't take offense sir. It's just a joke.

Also, I'd say the GTX is definetely better the GT7 across the board, smaller lighter, and faster. Compared to another brands, it makes you want to jump up and down with excitement is what some have told me so far. Team reports, and customer reports so far have been very positive.
