THAT would have gone a long way towards standardization. And if you REALLY want to push standardization, F1 should have looked at traditional 10th or 12th scale pan car foam wheels and tires. The mounting system for those things hasn't changed in how many years?

Not to split hairs, but the FGX, HPI F10 and Tamiya's F103GT and F201 all use standard 12mm hex hubs. If you really wanted to, you could use TC wheels and tires on those cars. When the F104 came out, Tamiya really should have gone with 12mm instead of the 14mm.

Buy the parts that fit your car. There really isn't that much standardization. Maybe tc wheels interchange but that's about it. I can't use my sakura zero parts on a tamiya or associated. Maybe some parts will fit but its not standard between all chassis. TC chassis have become popular because they have kept up with technology. F1 cars have seen very little development over the last decade. Hopefully the new generation formula cars will bring f1 into the spotlight.

Ok guys I should be getting my fgx this afternoon so, if you don't mind, I'm going to shoot out a couple rookie questions.
Been looking for the ride tires but it seems like they are hard to find in stock. Any opinions on the hpi Bridgestone tires? Looks like the hpi rims widen the car a little. Does this help the handling?
What FDR are you guys running? I will be on a smaller technical track with only one good straight. Using a 21.5 brushless motor.
Thanks in advance for the help. All tips are appreciated.

I'll be doing the same until i can figure out which compounds i want AND are in stock when it comes time to order them.
We just getting started so we're all over the place on F1 tires. Box stock foams and rubbers from Tamiya to whatever Evoracer is getting for his Exotek. I've also used the Bridgestone Soft tires on an HPI F10. They were pretty awesome but i sold that car.

Parts are one thing but tires and wheels are another. The one component that wears out the quickest on everyone's cars are the tires. If everyone uses the same tires and wheels, then you have a large pool of supply to choose from hence lower costs. However, if you're stuck with a proprietary standard you're stuck to choose from few or limited sources, hence your costs could be relatively high. And we all know lower costs help promote participation.
