I respectfully disagree!! many broken upper decks and front arms litter the pit floor at the uF1 races.

The screws for this kit stink! Someone was offering a complete screw kit a couple months back, I'm not sure if they are still offering the kit.

Maybe my crashes are lucky

I also reinforced the upper chassis (nose area and the part behind the arms) with melted plastic from a parts tree. Maybe that helped a lot. Kinda fusing plastic together.

Unfortunately the quality of the FGX kit is not up to Tamiya standards. I have had mine for only 3 months. and everything except the gearbox cournter gears have been replaced with updated higher quality parts
I even replaced the screws with titanium versions.

Although the car is mostly Exoteck, the total cost is still lower than an a full optioned F104. it can take a solid hit now!!
yeah, they gave me 4 rear wheels. i like the car but some things are crap, such as 4 rear wheels, having to sand the rear aluminum bulkhead to keep from rubbing, and the servo saver doesn't fit ko propo even though my tamiya one fits properly. the 3racing i think is mis labeled.

I think I should have used the FGX parts tree plastic. Oh well.

Update: On second thought, tried to melt using the FGX "plastic". No good. It's tough.

FGX Weight Reduction

With the independent rear suspension providing better mechanical grip over the direct drive cars, lightening the car should lead to better performance (i.e. quicker cornering, acceleration and top speed).

Here is the painful process. Down to 1170gms by replacing the wings with lexan. Reduced by at least 20 grams! And no more saggy front wing. The dimensions of the FGX front wing are the same as a TC rear wing... hint hint.

Removed the side mirrors and body aero accessories. Minus 10 grams.

Milled the chassis from 98 grams to 87grams. Battery and electronics will cover up the milled area anyways. A tiring way to reduce 11 grams

Full Sakura FGX build, setup and review. Including my mentioning I love the screws.

looks like a whole lot of work ... Also I found that a narrow FGX is faster in the corners and rotates faster .. I did this by running 3mm hex's in the rear went down to 183 . With my link suspension its at 180 front. seems to be more stable at high speed and not scrubbing in the corners ..Nice work by the way ..

I see that the new Sakura drift car is coming out with 13t layshaft pulley for an internal ratio of 2.92:1 , when using a 38t diff pulley.
I would be keen to buy the layshaft setup and slip a belt drive diff in it, might be a cheap , off the shelf parts conversion perhaps ??

Another option is the Xray T2 34 tooth diff, for an I.R of approx 2.61 - even better for those chasing huge rollouts for 21.5 motors

Great idea. I was running 4mm rear. Where did you get a 3mm hex? Shaved the kit plastic hex? Thanks.
