Default shocks

Am a little over the leaking shocks on fgx, have tried multiple shock bodies and "tricks" to stop leaking, anyone had any luck with alternate shocks in this?

That replaces the aluminum swivel balls in the lower arm, I hope. The aluminum ones don't slide smoothly on the kingpins without adding a little lube.

I used that green slime stuff for shocks when building the kit. Never had a leaking problem. Maybe that'll work for you.

Mine leaked when new. I took the shocks apart and cleaned up the flashing on the plastic spacer between the o rings with a file. No more leaks.

+1
I had so much flash on one of the plastic spacers it was making the shaft bind.

Front
Shimizu grooved soft
3* caster/2* camber/zero toe
.018" springs
ride height 5mm
7mm wheel hexes for more track width

Rear
Shimizu grooved soft
2* camber/1* toe
stock FGX springs/oil with 3 o-rings used as a bump stop to keep the chassis from bottoming in the corners (really want to just get stiffer springs whenever they are available)
Added 1mm shim to the ball end that the shock connects to for more leverage over the suspension (also to make the spring seem stiffer)
6mm ride height.

Looks like our first (9) kit's ( all sold already) are on the truck out for delivery today, may have a couple on the Track for this Thursday’s Club Race. have 8 more coming and most of those spoken for, so I guess F1 has hit the N.W. and Timezone.

Looking forward to seeing them on the track, and our 2012 winter 6 race series....

Thumbs up

I found the original arms to be much better with some c/f tube glued underneath, so I will be doing the same thing with the v2 arms

That aside, the car is pretty awesome out of the box. Yes, I will be making a few little tweaks, but it is plenty drive able , unlike my F104 was .

So for an F1 beginner, I would definitely recommend one of these kits - provided they get the upgraded arms that is

I'm keen to try the nose cone balance weight and the metal camber/castor plate, since mine feels better with 30g of wheel weight stuck up front .

I would also like to try the 3 degree rear toe block, since I have plenty of power on tap

What ESC and motor setups are you guys using for your FGX's? I don't race competitively so I'm running a Traxxas VXL-3m 1/16 motor cuz it fits nicely into the available space. I couldn't run this in any class can I? What should I be getting if I don't want to spend over $300 on a combo setup??? Is the Novak Edge 2S a good buy? it's $151 shipped on Ebay..

I have:

Castle Sidewinder 5700kv (CM36) currently in my TA05 IFS,
Castle Mamba Max with HPI 5700kv motor in Tamiya F201
Novak Ballistic gtb (orange) with 4300kv motor in MLP F201

Thanks...

I'm running a ThunderPower 21.5 and Hobbywing Justock, no fitment issues and full range of motion on the motor plate.

Try a Cirtix or HobbyWing set up. Both are esc/motor combos and priced in the very low $100. I've tried the Cirtix, not to many functions on it but it's pretty dependable. Never tried the Hobby Wing but I've heard good things about it
