Very nice. What lower arms did you use for the front? How is the rear layshaft attach to the bulkhead? Can you post some more detail pictures?

How do you brake? Both of my electric 2-speed cars require mechanical brakes because the spur gears both free spin.

Trust me, i'm still in love with the FGX but it's too much work to get it competitive nowadays. Such a badass car and design, makes me sad really that it's all pan car now.
Well I just came back from my first day of racing my fgx(1076grams), and although my driving sucked, I was able to post a 15.06 second fast lap vs the other F104 type cars going down to 13.6 seconds or so.... I did not tune my Novak boss motor on the analyzer yet, and I was way undergeared at 2.71 fdr and 61 mm tires.... I also need a bit of chassis flex , and some CA glue on the sidewalls of my rear tires....
I also will get all the necessary grinding done to fit a 42t 48p pinion in there for some top speed, and I will have to start charging my super shorty pack higher than 5Amps.....
The fgx is not done yet.....

Ok guys, I was able to grind enough material out of the motor mount and posts to fit a 47t 48p pinion gear with the novak boss 25.5t motor, for a final drive ratio of 2.01...
I will test a 40t(2.37fdr) first with 35* timing on the motor.....3 racing new F1-imag0018.jpg

The practice did not go too well, but I still managed a 14.995 sec fastest lap.....
Anyway, I will definitely add full esc punch and brakes on top of changing my 32gram gear diff to the lighter 21 gram roller diff+ aluminum dogbones(4grams lighter than steel)... I am hoping for the best after that 15gram rotational weight loss....
2.63fdr (36t pinion/35t spur) seem to be the sweet spot for my novak boss 25.5t... Hopefully more fgx cars will show up next time at the track....

Chassis is hitting the ground, so I got to test handling at a higher rideheight(6mm+)....
I also ordered the parts for a new ball diff mod with 48p gears, hoping to get the diff down to 15 grams or less in addition to gaining some efficiency... Cheers...

What gears are you going to use?

Well according to my measurements, I will need to use a robinson 60t 48p spur gear, and a robinson 26t or 27t 48p pinion with 5mm bore... The only downside is that these types of pinions only come in steel not aluminum, but I guess it won't make much of a difference anyway...I am hoping the 27t pinion fits so I can get the internal ratio down to 2.625 instead of 2.71+ (with the 26t)....
