I haven't posted in a while in this thread because it seemed to go into the exotek conversion for a while. I don't have the exotek so I couldn't be involved. as for the belt drive, it is a one off conversion. To my knowledge there isn't a kit you can buy to make the change. someone was messing with one a while back but I don't think part numbers were ever mentioned. the rear diff could come from the sakura line of touring cars and I believe the shaft and pulley are also 3 racing parts. don't know about the belt or what has to he done to make it all work.

The shocks look to HB 1/12 scale ones to me. Very interesting project and skilled whoever built it.

Default FGX Belt drive

I too have been planning to convert my FGX to belt drive using touring car parts like similar to this. This is a bit different than what I had planned, but these photos do give food for thought. Does anyone know where these pics originated?

The car belongs to UF1 founder C Lightfoot.
It has bits and pieces from many cars including an Xray diff (I think he said), 3racing front shocks and Tamiya rear shocks. His buddy Calvin made 2 of these mostly with shop tools
Charles drives it from time to time and it handles excellent but may be a little down on power delivery compared to when I raced against him last.
Much quieter then the FGX though!

A picture with your post, when trouble shooting, will probably get more rctech help than without...

Yessss!!! I knew that I had to insist to get answers; thanks all for the informations

I found on my own where the motor mount came from: it seems to be the one from the Sakura XI.

I'll ask the UF1 founder and I hope that I could get some answers ;-)

Cheers,
G-rem

Well, anyone know where I can get in touch with Charles Lightfoot or Calvin Lee? Seems to be the only two persons that have done the conversion...

Best regards,
G-rem

After reading through this thread, I put a little anti-squat into the rear of my fgx and found that it kept my rear end from rubbing. Is it necessary to do this with carpet? All the setups I've seen for carpet never mention this. Thanks--Al

Hi big al ........

When you say "rubbing" do you mean bottoming out at the rear?

I'm just getting my FGX so haven't ran the car yet.
Do you run the new IFS on your car?
I have ordered the parts for it but have nor spoke to many who run it this way.

Bottoming out makes more sense now that I think about it. I've been thinking about the IFS, but haven't made the plunge. I just picked up a used fgx and raced it the first time last weekend. So much fun. If you type ifs in search under this thread, there's quite a bit of feedback and info for it. Good luck!

After using the IFS on my FGX I would never go back to stock Get it, it is worth it. I used the steel option 3 camber caster plate instead of the plastic as it would rip the ball ends out once i put the steel option on never another drama I DO MISS MINE.
