Default Battery location

Where are you guys finding a good location for the shorty pack? Forward or back buy the motor. Anybody have good pics of packaging of equipment.

Thanks Chris

Well I run mine cross wise on the chassis so I can mount the servo low...not sure how that compares handling wise to the in-line cars.

I have the esc between the motor and battery. I have a piece of carbon fiber superglued to the chassis so the battery doesn't slide backward. At the front there is a post from the exotek chassis.
My receiver sits on the opposite side of the servo.

Well the grooved tires were originally made for the F201 which happens to be the same sized rims as the FGX. So rather than remake them they just carried them over.

Anyone here tried this? Is this a complete replacement/alternative to the default gear diff which actually binds with the rear alum upper cover? TIA.

You have to have this! I think the gears have cleaner release ramps, there is way less friction with this gear. but you will still get stompped by the Tamiya F104s on the straights. I know been there.

Ball diffs will be in around 2 to 3 weeks, I just have to be patient. I think the next big thing with this car is to get more fresh air to the motor. I'm gearing up to the mid to low 3s and putting timing back to factory on the TP to see what happens. I'm trying 35/25 to start. Last time I did this without cooling, the car came off at 170*. That's a little warm for my liking. The car really rolls nice and free though. No bind or drag anywhere so the heat just has no place to exit. The DD cars are a tad quicker in the straights, but not fast enough to get around if I hold my line cleanly. On a clean lap, I'm better in the infield.

I am happy with my gear diff.
I am putting the exotek knuckles on today.
It should help with keeping consistent/even ground clearance front to back and side to side. My old knuckles weren't set correctly because of a stripped grub screw hole on the collar.
And my front spoiler was dragging and one corner caught tape on the carpet and the car launched into the air and did a 5 yard long jump. After the race I used a heat gun to get rid of the downward curvature of the spoiler so it stays flat/horizontal.

Thank you, sir. I still have to wait for my ball diff from a previous order. The wait is killing me, HA.

BTW, My FGX/F104 built is doing gwell; Slow but sure since I am caught up with my busy sched (at work). Cheers to all!

I tuned the FGX and loaned it to an experienced driver. It finished second for the day. Pretty cool.

Lookks good! Since I have a number of FGX's I would like to put a 104 front suspension on one. I would like more detail on your conversion. Did you "Graft" a piece of 104 front chassis on theFGX chassis? If so, is it botled on top or bottom? I would appreeicate any info!

Thanks,
Ned
