The most fragile part on the car is the front suspension arms but since you will be getting the IFS we don't yet know how strong that will be and there is no reinforced parts out for it yet. As for other fragile parts you'll want to reinforce the front wing some. I used the 3Racing fiberglass reinforcement piece but instead of screwing it to the wing I used Shoe Goo to hold it to the wing. I prefer to run my battery crosswise on the Exotek chassis so that I have room for all the electronics to be flat on the chassis.

For tires...on our asphalt track we found the HPI tires seem to work the best but we are in the minority it seems.

I'm now of the belief that F1 Rc is alot like real F1....tires are critical and different compounds are a must. Like you, our asphalt track went against the suggestions. We found the Tamiya kit stock tires to be best on our very hot track. Waiting now for temps to go down a bit before we test the Pits out again.
Thanks for the tips. Ordering a new FGX tomorrow.

I am about to build mine but took the RC carbon conversion instead. I want to have the F104 front assembly for simplicity and to have more room for electrics at the mid section.

I'll update you guys about this. Cheers and God bless y'all.

i race with evo so i'll add my two cents here...

I'm currently using crappy old VTA tires on my FGX since that was the closest "realistic looking" wheels and tires i had when i built my FGX.

I'm finding that they are really good on the asphalt where we race. Which is shocking to me since they are "crappy old VTA tires." They aren't even the softer Pro Compound that HPI makes, but the D Compound which is harder.

The plan is to eventually buy some HPI Bridegstone Soft compound F1 tires since i've used them before and they stick like glue.

Much appreciated.
It still makes me sad Troy stopped making the kits. I'll run mine until I break the last of my current parts, then get the IFS parts.

Mike, how about an upper deck only upgrade IFS kit for the stock bottom plate?

not really a waste, you could use an exotek upper deck on a mc chassis, honestly its the best upgrade money buys next to a good set of tires

It should be...I believe it still uses the same upper arms as before. The Exotek arms are a direct replacement for the upper arms.

Got the word from TQRC.....IFS will be in stock by next week.
Hope nobody thought I was saying the McKune chassis was bad. Simply meant that I didn't want to spend on a discontinued piece. I'd rather go with the newest version of Exotek instead.
Been looking forward to getting the FGX for awhile. And YES, the more realistic suspension is what sold me. I knew I'd be getting one as soon as I saw the announcement about the IFS.

I have one of these IFS brand new never used look in pass post you'll see I had it a few months ago, if anyone wants it pm me.

Haven't had any time to test plus I sold my exotech car and tried to get another car to test the new deck but couldn't find a car for a good price, so I'll sell the IFS deck I have now or I'll get a car when I can.

Thx

To prevent Pit Shimizu sidewall tear and keep tire firmly glued to rim.

You guys not running F1 down there ?? Is your IFS a prototype unit ?? Do you know if there are any differences in function or materials than the new release ??
I'd sure like to run on your track again. I raced on it when it was new.
