1 of the guys racing with us on friday night broke a kingpin, when he bought the ti coated ones from the shop, they had no groove for the eclip, were slightly longer, and told you to use an extra 2 of the little pink spacers on top of the hub, therefore raising the top arm....maybe 3racing are onto it,and trying to remedy..they werent marked V2 though like most of there revisions....

This is the new kingpins....

Wonder if they have machined the new ti front axles correctly, they havent got it right on the kit or the heavy duty axles yet...

Im probably going to go to hex Tamiya front axle and hub,or the HPI F10 axle and hub....so sick of the wheel wobble and tiny bearings breaking....

Since going the tamiya stub type of knuckle, I have been happy running the 10 x 5 bearings. Slop is gone and no more failures.
Not many 3racing parts on my car anymore and reliability is great ......

If you want the quickest laps go with what works not what is necessarily the prettiest! Even my record breaking FQ01 is not made of carbon. You have to "trick" carbon to get it to do what you want and even then you end up sacrificing longitudinal flex in most cases. The carpet version of the FGX upper deck will be black G10/FR4 and a little bit thicker. Im taking a road trip to dallas in about 3 weeks to spend the entire weekend testing for carpet setups.
How far does your upper deck extend forward ? All the way to mount the body post ?

Piss off Fleety...yor fast enough

Im running a Mckune, and have been thinking about trying out the RcShox upper, based on Marcus's and a few other guys comments, laptimes about it...

The Rabbit chassis would be the other chassis i would like to try...

Maybe we should talk the Daves into trying the above 2,and see how fast they go

I am seeing two part numbers for the ti coated kingpins:
FGX-330
and
FGX- 325

looks like 330 has no middle clip groove

This is why some guys adjust camber by changing the steering knuckle instead of using the turnbuckle on the upper suspension arm.

Thanks for posting this, Rob. For some of us, the technical stuff is the FUN stuff!

Good point!
I love the technical stuff too
Actually, Rob is correct in his assesment and illustration. The line of the lower arm is determined by the inner and outer pickup points (the inner arm mount and outer pivot ball) The static camber angle of the kingpin has no effect on this whatsoever.

The static camber angle can affect the center of the tire's contact patch as more negative static camber will move the point outward.

With a pan car style front end like that used by the FGX, F104, et al, the fixed lower arm is still determining the IC and RC even without moving. The primary adjustment with a fixed lower arm becomes the upper link for not only static camber, but also camber gain, and RC.

Changing the height of the knuckle in relation to the lower arm changes ride height unless the tire diameter is adjusted to keep the same value. If tire diameter is not changed, ride height as well as the IC changes due to the differing angle from the contact patch to the IC.

For better corner speed, try more caster. It has the effect of adding camber without increasing static camber and decreasing corner entry grip.

Do we run the Front OR Rear rc18 shocks? I have seen both listed in posts.
