You guys can't use the smaller part of the spur gear to gear the car ! It seems to be 22teeth or 23teeth, that should give alot higher gearing with a big pinion !!!

Hmm. This car will not work with silver cans. Because the motor is the same width along its entire length, the endbell of the motor hits the post the battery door mounts to. You only have a couple mm of play

You could leave the motor against the battery post , and use the smallest(35t ) spur . What is the highest fdr you can get it to run ?

There are enough gearing options for the fgx, on top of always having a double spur gear system: high ratio(22t) for 21.5t brushless, and low ratio (35t to 43t) for silver cans .

Zero timed 21.5 will use a much higher rollout than a 540 will, at least until you add boost.

So your thinking a 22T spur with a 21.5 motor will get this car relatively close speed wise to a 104 with a 21.5 ?

I need to get mine built....

Correct, but if you don't use the bigger ring of the spur gear, and use the smaller one you can gear a 21.5t blinky. It's going to be tricky to bolt the motor to the motor mount if the pinion gear has no holes though.....

I know the smallest 48p pinion gear I know of is 12teeth . So with the largest fgx spur gear (43t), the total tooth count is 55. Now 55-22= 33 ... In theory, a 33t 48p spur gear should fit the fgx, giving you about 1.80fdr , which I think is too high for a 21.5t blinky that most run with 2.1fdr to 2.7fdr . Using the second ring of the spur gear won't be easy, but it's possible. My biggest concern is clearance issues with the 33t pinion gear ...

Drove one today. This thing is for real. The rear end keeps it glued to the track, you can really jump on it out of the turns. Getting more gear into this will make it even better. I can not wait to get one, may sell one of my F109s to fund it.
