Tire Additives
just wondering what household items everyone used on rubber tires as additives to help them grip better.
i have used wd40 in the past, and i have heard somethings about simple green too, but is there anything else that will also work?

WD-40 and Simple Green are cleaners and lubes and leave a residue behind. I used to use simple green and wonder why the car would get greasy and pick up a bunch of crap from the track after a run. Stick with mainstream RC traction compounds. TQ stuff works well, as does MPH Products T-Rx

Yeah you dont want your tires to be real sticky because they will just pick up a load of dirt on the first lap & there goes your traction, you want a traction compound that softens the rubber thereby giving you traction, also try softer inserts.

These aren't household items but you could use paragon, Trinity death grip, and Trinity tire tweek just make sure you wipe your tires really good before you go race.

Suntan lotion and some waterless hand cleaners(such as Gojo) will work. They don't work as well as the tire additives you can buy.

thanks for all the tips guys. i have an onroad race on sunday, and all i have is rubber tires(everyone uses foams at my local track) and was just wondering what there was out there. i will start to run foams as soon as my rubbers wear down. i like WD-40 because if you use it properly, and really wipe the excess off, then it does make the tires softer.

Jack the Gripper made by corally is good and it does not have a smell at all.

You can also use some RC motor sprays to soften the tires.
