Steve, just check with you. For a Novak Velocity 4.5T motor. What are the indicator which would require sintered rotor replacement.

I opened up the motor & see that the rotor is black. Eventually I can see the surface is thining. Performance wise still can run.

If it's a black rotor that is 14 mm in diameter it is one of the original bonded rotors... I would definately recommend replacing the rotor with a sintered rotor!

Ok, got the spread spek GTB installed with the 3.5, but what do I need to do to get it as punchy as it was with the LRP esc? Does the motor timing need to be changed or ? It's just as fast but lacks the "rip" I used to have coming off of the low end and midrange acceleration.

What are you geared?

What kind of batteries are you using?

I assume this is in a TC?

Steve what is the rotor diameter on the Novak motors? I know the drift are 13mm.

Never ind I found 12.3mm

Any plans on a 12.5mm rotor?

Anything is possible, but at the moment there are no plans to make a 12.5 mm rotor.

dodgeguy, I am using Novak GTB & also LRP TC Spec. The noticable difference is TC Spec is only forward ESC. The TC you can go as low 3 turns. However you can set the ADPC from Value 1 to Value 8. Higher value will give a real hell of a punch during acceleration & make the car fly. Hence you notice extraordinary performance compare with GTB which already factory optimized.

The drawback is your motor, ESC & battery can get very much hotter. So the setup, wiring, battery selection need to be taken into serious consideration.

Steve,
I want to run a Mongoose, a 17.5, 2s lipo in my gen x-10. This will be my first season running indoor carpet and I thought this would be a very tame setup and a good one to learn with. Oh and cheaper.

What 17.5 would I buy if I went this route and do you think its even worth trying?

Also could I get a 13.5 540 sized motor to run with this speed controller?

the mongoose will probably work for you...but you're going to get better performance out of a 4 cell GTB or even a Havoc ESC and I would recommend looking into one of those ESCs instead.

AS far as which 17.5 to get, I recommend our 17.5 pro. It comes with the sintered rotor, ribbed endbells, and ready to race!

Steve - When is Novak going to change the wiring harness to a removable style, and when will Novak be updating their SS motor line overall?

Novak is pretty much the last major brushless player to still include attached sensor harnesses.

KN,

All I can "really" say is that we're always working on new products over here and that's a very popular request...

We have alot of stuff planned for next year!

Steve, how does the min. drive settings in the GTB work?

All i can say about it is when i set the value higher i gain initial power but the top end power suffers and vice-versa.

Hi Steve,

Is it possible for a motor to perform differently if ran several times a day eg 5 times

I run a 13.5 pro and lipos

For no apparent reason in any one of the 5 rounds my car is slower in a straight line.Basically unpredictable. I run the same gear ratio in all 5 races.
Using rubber tyres. (lets assume my car is well maintained and doesnt have any binding or poorly prepared issues)

Also how can I tell if my lipo charger is peaking correctly
Should my lipo pack always peak at 8.4v
I have seen my packs cut off at say 8.15v at times and I hit repeak then my charger may put few milliamps in then cutoffs after few seconds so its stating the fact that it assumes the pack has peaked correctly.

I do balance charge once a week night before I race

Your thoughts?

Thanks
