Default What is this?

My buddy just got this car from his brother in law and wants to know what it is so he can find parts. Any idea?

It was an attic find. Assuming it is the Tamiya, is it a decent car?

I had one - it was darn near bulletproof. My nephew has it now, and it still runs. Check this link out :http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/tamiya...5_744_754.html

It can be a very competitive rally car

In it's day it was a great car. These days they're more often shelf queens.
It would still be good for bashing around the street etc, but parts aren't easy to come by, so look after it!

Is there a vendor still making parts for it? If not are their parts compatible with other cars?

I doubt there are many interchangeable parts from later models, Tamiya don't like doing that a lot.

I'd try the HK sites like RCMart, RCMarket, and RCMushroom for a starter. Also e-bay may be worth a look.

Tamiya still make ALL of the parts for this car. And they still sell cars based on this chassis. Very easy to get parts for,you can even order them from Tamiya America if you cant get them local.

The chassis is a TA02, not a TA01.

As bakaguyjean says a lot of the parts are still available from Tamiya for these as cars are still made using many of the parts. Anything TamiyaUSA doesn't have in stock can be found on ebay.

Thanks guys for the reassurance. It doesn't need much, but when something breaks I'll know where to find parts! Thanks again.
