Correct... So I had Dynotech Racing make me a few replicates in 7075 aluminum: it shaved six grams per pair...I also had some rear tc4 axles made in 7075 aluminum to work with the plastic bones(another 6grams shaved per pair). I will be testing them in my 17.5t car....Wish me luck....

I received them last Friday, and installed them already. Now I am on the hunt for tc7.1 shocks to finalize my mods... Stay tuned......

In 2011, I started using my phone to post , but I was on rctech since 2004 or so on my old windows98 desktop...
I hope you resolve that health issue fast , and go back to the track soon... I always take care of my body first, and I am very skeptical of doctor's opinions: natural remedies are the best !!!
Very nice Car there, but I doubt it can keep up with my tc4.2 .... Cheers...

While the 414 is great, the TL01 is greater
At least it is tough to beat in a clean wiring contest

Don't do that, if they aren't big bore the shaft to oil volume will be out of whack.

Video was back in 2010, no shorty yet. TA04 c-hub and knuckle on plastic TL01 arms for some caster.
Here is a 2016 video, with shorty

The tc7.1 shocks are big bore, and lighter than the tc4 shocks.. Lighter=BERT mods.....

And how about shock towers and aiming to have the best possible shock angle and up and down travel? And now that the car is lighter do you know you have to go down in spring rate or else you end up with a wood board? Where is the CG vertically and lenghtwise? Got to know everything if not the only thing the car will do better is slam against the barriers.
Do you even use a shorty?

Sorry, but you're absolutely wrong. They can be just as competitive as a 414. The only things that prevent them from being quite competitive overall are a lack of gear diffs and DCJs. You can easily modify the motor mounts to allow for the tall gearing of today's motors.
Your Tamiya-branded undies are showing, just thought someone should tell you.

Call it what you want. The 414 is a Superior car in every way.
No denying that.
TC3/4 are ok. They're cool to stick a Castle setup in and run 3s.

I have raced over 17 yrs and I have yet to see one truly be competitive in anything but a VTA class. ( And hardly there with the TB03 and TA05 being popular choice of racers, as well as the TC6+ and other modern day chassis's )

That's why some have the RC Crewchief software, but my car will not have the same suspension geometry as the stock tc4 anymore, so I can only test on the track to see what works... Corner speed(lower CG), forward acceleration and top speed are what I am working on right now. Handling will come with setup later, and I never use shorty packs, only TP 3300(208grams) or TP 4200(263grams)... .

Your raging fanboyism is blinding you to very obvious truths about how good that AE platform was.

I didn't mentioned any software, just basic setup parameters. You are focusing on the wrong parameters too, forget corner speed and acceleration from the lower CG, it won't happen that way. As I said, PM me if you want to discuss further.

I saw the TL-01 video. I can't believe that was a TL-01. I've ran my in-law's TL-01. It didn't run too well. It needed shocks, servo, Servo-Saver and a pinion.
Good video.
Good video.

I've been racing for over 16 myself and have seen TC3s and TC4s win A LOT of races. It was the dominant chassis from 2000-2003 and the results show that. I've owned TC3s and have myself piloted one to top 10 qualifying results at large, national events AFTER its prime. Sure, that was all in the first 6-7 years of my racing, but the TC3 in particular was a great car for its time. I cannot agree that the 414 was a superior car and neither would many people who've been racing for 15+ years. Were/are they on par? Sure.

There is a reason a TC3 is $60 on ebay and a 414 is $600.
