Here are some pics of my Xray T1 Factory Kit . The wiring is a mess , I know , but it came 2nd in our Hobbywing class last weekend so the old Slovak still has lots to prove . I was the fastest all day , however some bad luck took victory from us

Your shaft drive might do very well especially on tight carpet tracks. Strong accelleration out of corners.
Here is my shaft drive, 1999 TL01, racing in the 13.5 boost class on carpet. Around June 2010. I think I qualified 3rd, missing TQ by a few seconds.
White car. Was running a non-boost esc, hence others had power on the straight. But cornering of the TL01 was very tight and strong.
Still pretty decent for an 11 year old dinasour.

I run a TA04R I picked up brand new to have a play around with and I love it.
We run on a tight small track on polished wood so its like drift racing.
Its the easiest touring car ive driven, I think makers will go back to something similar in the future with saddle style batteries to get equal weight left to right.

Apparently a little grinding and cutting are necessary to get LiPos into old school cars, but is anyone noticing chassis tweak because of the power of the new electronics?
Plus, I'm planning on running a old tub chassis but do belts and bearings really wear out as quickly as people are telling me?

Belts and bearing wearing out fast? Who is telling you this? Not sure how to answer that question.. proper maintenance and belt tension should give you longevity

I found my old FT TC3 up in the attick yesterday, it was in an old Yokomo box! It looked to be in pristine condition. I retired it about 10 yrs ago, made it into a OG drift car when drifting was brand new. Next I converted it again for rally car racing but it never made it to the dirt. I remains in the rally version today.
After viewing all the old racers here I have been reinspired, I may resurrect the old tub again for some club racing. I am building a TA05v2 currently but the TC3 would make a fun winter project.

I run an old tc4, granted i do not finish first...but 95% of the time I do at least finish. On the other side of the spectrum one of the guys that we race with uses a tc3, and yes if he dose not finish in 1st, he is in second. The same guys is awesome at dialing a car in. My car would probably be closer to the front if I was more aggressive. Needless to say I just race for fun, and be a running block for my friends/ team mates
