the lead to the receiver was damaged close into the case. So I opened the case unsoldered the lead, cut off the damaged bit and soldered it back on.

All that part went sweet as BUT as I pulled the soldering iron away from the job a bit of solder came of the iron tip and went across an unrelated part of the circuit board and melted it.

The upshot of it all is that all I need is the lower circuit board which just unplugs anyway so I've asked Steve to find out for me.

The only reason I attempted it in the first place was because I didn't see the point in sending it back to fix such a minor problem considering the cost of postage to the US..but hey shite happens and it backfired on me.

The problem by the way was just that the white wire of the lead had a split in it when I got it, that was deep enough to expose the wire when bent. I could have just taped it up but well that woulda bugged me even more.

rc-car-net,

Thanks Don't worry, I'm still a touring car racer myself, but MT is a lot of fun as I tried it out once. Definitely teach you a lot about throttle control

jrighter,

I'm not sure if we will be getting more, because every time we order the white ones with them, they send the black ones, which might mean they no longer make the white ones. I'll have to check on that for sure with them.

Mabuchi540,

I'll see what they (Schumacher USA) say, if not, we'll try and work out a good deal for you on a new one. Sorry to hear what happened

Thanks dude, we'd emailed about it briefly before Xmas but I kinda figured that even the Monday after, what with the new site and stock take it might be hard to get hold of them.
