Default Gears for: TC3 and Novak SS

I just built a touring car, an Associated TC3 with a Novak SS5800 Brushless setup. I'm new to RC cars and have no idea what spurs and gears I need. Could someone with this setup please tell me what to buy?

What gears are in the kit? They are probably a good starting point

What are your plans for the car? Are you going to be racing it or running it outside?

Default Gearing

Go to Novak's website and look at the Gearing addendum for the SS Brushless and it will give you a starting point on the gearing with a TC3.

I only got a 72t spur, no pinion in the kit.

I will not be racing. I will be running it in a parking lot. I just want speed

The novak web site states a 20 pinion and a 90t spur.. do you think that would be good?

The novak site has specific instructions for the brushless setup in a TC3 (as well as others). www.teamnovak.com Go to the download section and download the addendum. It will tell you exactly gearing to use.

For bashing around a parking lot a 22 pinion with a 72 spur would be a good starting place. Novak recommends a 7.3 overall ratio which would be a 24.66 tooth pinion (lol). Check the temps after every couple minutes if you plan on running closer to the 24 or 25 tooth ratios.
