Hi Cristian
Question on the RX4 conversion
What shims do I have to put under the blocks to achieve the exact same roll centres as T4 kit?
Are your 'recommended' positions on the sheet giving the kit track width?

Thanks

While I don't have an exact measurement, it should be around 0.75mm of spacing for the roll centers. On the track width:

(. )___________( .) ff and fr

( .)___________(. ) rf and rr

Should get you close.

See this post for details on track width and toe.

On the roll centers, the rx4 pins when used with no shims are the same height (measured side by side) as the stock T4 with the -.75 arm holders. So adding .75mm will get you the kit settings. That said, the car *will* roll more than the stock t4, so going to 1mm is a good suggestion.

I ran the RX4 chassis on my T4 (plate only) at the IIC and loved it. Qualified 6th in the stock A-main but a sweeper tumble ended me at 9th. The car had loads of steering all week and was still incredibly responsive to small setup changes.

Highly recommended

We did have communication from a package going to Canada that is missing. Don't know if that may be it. Please email details.

That said, here's a sheet I made up that represents what I have seen and measured, I've not measured 100% of the positions, but it should extrapolate well. I am running the stock XRAY settings as indicated on the sheet, available here. Note, slight variations in tightening down the blocks can cause a bit of skew, so use these as a reference, YMMV.

So based on that chart, using the "stock" settings you have highlighted... are you running 1.5mm narrower in the rear compared to the standard T4 settings or is that 1.5mm narrower compared to using 1-out front and rear? If the latter, how does that track width of -1.5mm compare against the stock T4 track width?

Like you, 2 dot outside RF and RR results in about 3.5* of toe... and I thought about doing 2 RF / 3 RR to get down to 3* but seeing your chart makes me wonder if I should go w/ that 1.5mm narrower setup and put on the +0.75mm hubs?

Default method for removal?

I would like to hear ideas about how to remove the plastic inserts from the aluminum--- without damaging either.

If you needed to adjust toe or width and needed to change one insert for another--- how do you get thhem out?

I tried several different toools--- small sockets, a piece of wood and almost damaged one with a large hex wrench and tapping lightly on it.

they really don't seem to want to come out in the same form they went in.

thx,
Darrald

I use a small flat head and pry in between the aluminum and plastic lightly. You can also push through with them installed on the chassis with a big tip wrench like a 5mm. However, the flathead screw driver works best for me.
